Silver Alert- Roswell Police Department
Former Roswell escrow company owner Christopher Adam Jensen-Tanner, 45, of Roswell, is scheduled to be sentenced for wire fraud on July 25, 2024, at 10:15 AM in Las Cruces.
A man who formerly owned Rustic Essentials Soap Company was sentenced Tuesday (July 2) to 31½ years in prison following his March conviction on charges of criminal sexual pe*******on of a minor, criminal sexual contact of a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor (by providing illegal narcotics to the juvenile).
Steven Paul Johnson, 46, received the maximum sentence in District Court for each of the three crimes – 15 years for each of the first two counts and 18 months for the third count. He will be required to serve approximately 85 percent of his prison term before he can be considered for release.
The crimes occurred against a teenage employee in February 2021 at the now-closed soap shop.
A shelter is now available for folks who have been displaced by the and with meals, showers, and laundry available. We also encourage impacted residents to stop at the Roswell National Guard Armory on the way back into previously evacuated areas for food, hygiene kits, PPE, and information on what steps to take next.

Be mindful that power, gas, and sewage maybe unavailable in your home.
After careful consideration, the Mayor and the Village Council have decided to allow residents back into Ruidoso at 8:00 AM on Monday, June 24th.
Here are a few things to know about re-entry:
1. Re-entry will be for LOCAL, FULL-TIME residents only at this time. You will be required to show proof of residency.
2. The VOR is asking that 2nd homeowners and tourists refrain from coming to Ruidoso to give residents time to get back to their properties and survey any needs or damages.
3. Please bring at least a week's worth of food and drinking water as grocery stores are not operating at full capacity.
4. Due to the events of the past week, you may arrive to find that your home has no gas, no electricity, and no water. If your home has no power, your refrigerator will not be working. You can check the outage maps at PNM.com and ZNGC.com
5. There is no childcare available.
6. If you have breathing issues including asthma or COPD, you may find that you cannot tolerate the ash, smoke, and soot that are in the air.
7. We currently have a Boil Water Advisory in place which is normal after a natural disaster. If any of our systems are found to be compromised, there is the possibility for a mandatory Boil Water Order.
We hope that you will help us make this process smooth. Please remember that we are here to help you, and at the same time, we want to ensure your safety and the safety of everyone's property.
Any questions can be directed to the EOC Phone Bank at 575-258-6900 or more information can be found on the VOR website at www.Ruidoso-NM.gov

When roads reopen and deliveries attempts are able to be made, UPS will be shoring up resources to deliver packages that are in emergency status. If customers have Next Day Air or Temp Sensitive packages they should call 1-800-PICK-UPS (1-800-742-5877) for more information. If delivery attempts are unsuccessful packages will eventually be returned to sender.
If you are waiting on a delivery you can call 1-800-PICK-UPS (1-800-742-5877) to possibly have your package redirected.
Friday, June 14th was the last full delivery service day.
American Red Cross officials and T-Mobile's Community Support Unit are onsite at the ENMU-R shelter, offering free Calls/Text and 3G speed internet for 30 days to those affected by the fire.
UPDATE: Good morning folks. We have revised the map a bit to better illustrate the dynamic situation of the South Fork fire currently threatening Ruidoso. The new map better highlights the new burn areas (extent shown in dark red) since the previous update (extent shown in light red) and now includes the locations of buildings within burn areas (the red dots.) Currently, we estimate that 1,445 buildings are in the South Fork burn extent, but we have no information about whether any of these structures actually burned -- only that they are within the burn zone. We have also had reports that some isolated buildings have burned due to falling embers, though they were not in a burned area. More updates to come as new information becomes available.
Urgent 🚨🚨🚨🚨
Ruidoso Downs is being moved to GO status. The Salt Fire is making a run towards the City of Ruidoso Downs. If you are in Ruidoso Downs, please evacuate immediately. Do not try to gather belongings or save your property.
For more information, please keep checking here or tune-in to 1490 AM.
Update: Hi folks, new information on the extent of the fire has been painfully slow coming in, but we do have some new information. Heat-detecting satellites are indicating scattered hotspots in the two regions shown on the map below. NOTE: This information is preliminary and should not be taken as confirmation that an area has burned, but may indicate the direction and extent of spread. The wind is still blowing to the northeast. We will update the map again as soon as we have confirmed burn extents.
🚨 Attention Ruidoso residents! 🚨 If you have been asked to evacuate due to the fires, the ENMU-Roswell Gym is now open as a shelter. We are located at 52 University Blvd on the ENMU-Roswell campus. Please stay safe and spread the word!
