https://youtu.be/xjloX_EvYiI On this date January 25, 1975, the initial instrumental tracks for "Love will Keep Us Together" by Captain & Tennille were recorded at A&M Studios in Hollywood. The song was written by Neil Sedaka (who originally recorded it in 1973) and Howard Greenfield. The session was produced by Daryl Dragon (Captain).
Drummer Hal Blaine and keyboardist Dragon were the only two on the 3-hour session. All of the other parts and vocals were overdubbed later by Daryl, his brother Dennis Dragon, and Toni Tennille.
Released in April of 1975, the single rose to number 1 on both the Billboard Easy Listening chart and the Billboard pop chart, staying atop the latter for four weeks starting June 21, 1975. It also hit the top of the 1975 year-end chart. In the US it was the best-selling single of 1975. "Love Will Keep Us Together" was certified gold by the RIAA and also won the Grammy Award (1975) for Record of the Year on February 28, 1976
It would be Blaine's 7th and final Record of the Year that he played on.
