We pamper the skin on our face, nourish the hair on our head, but what about down there? Do our vulvas even need special care, or are they, in fact, self-cleaning?

The world of intimate health is often wrapped in a haze of hush-hush embarrassment, leading many of us to toss products into our shopping baskets without a second glance at the ingredients list. But should we?

Here, we spoke to the experts to find out what’s lurking in our intimate products - and what we should buy instead.

Comment below if you were surprised by any of these ingredients and please share with your community to spread the word 🙏

Research is increasingly linking the health of our gut to so many other areas of our wellbeing – from our skin and immunity to digestion and even our mental health.

But it can be overwhelming to know where to start with improving our gut health.

Here, we share the three simple things our founder, Liz Earle, recommends.

We’ve all been there: our stomachs slowly getting bigger during the day, or quickly expanding after a meal.

Understanding our blood sugar patterns can be key to midlife health.

Research shows that maintaining a healthy blood glucose range throughout the day and avoiding rapid blood sugar shifts, or ‘spikes’, can help to lessen the severity of menopause symptoms, and even reduce our risk of developing chronic disease.

So, we've rounded up the best advice from experts we've spoken to over the years to share how to keep your blood sugars balanced.

🍽️ Dress up carbs with protein, fat and fibre: the combination will dictate how quickly or slowly we see a rise in our blood glucose levels. Getting enough protein and fibre is key too, as they keep us feeling fuller for longer.

🍪 Avoid sweet treats on an empty stomach: if we already have protein, fat and fibre in our bodies after a balanced meal, the sugar from our sweet treat will enter our bloodstream gradually, rather than all at once. You don't have to cut out completely, but do be mindful of your overall intake.

🥕 Start your meals with veggies: to minimise spikes, start meals with vegetables, followed by fats and protein, and finish with carbohydrates.

🚶‍♀️Go for a walk after your meals: studies show that walking after a meal can reduce glucose surge. This is because our bodies are using the glucose as it enters our bloodstream.

🍔 Cut out ultra-processed foods: to curb cravings, prioritise local, seasonal, fresh, whole foods, and choose organic whenever possible.

💪 Build more muscle: the more muscle we have, the more glucose we burn doing nothing.

🧘‍♀️ Keep stress to a minimum: when we’re stressed, our body releases hormones like cortisol that make it harder for insulin to work. This means the glucose in our blood is less likely to be converted into energy in our cells.

😴 Develop a better bedtime routine: if we’ve had a bad night’s sleep, our cortisol will likely be higher throughout the day and we are much more likely to have cravings and may find it difficult to balance our blood sugar.

Forgetting the name of a familiar face or struggling to recall a word may feel like a scary step towards dementia.

Some of us may even accept it as an inevitable part of ageing. Either way, mental decline is preventable – and we have more power over our brain function than we realise.

Bloating is experienced by many women during menopause, with factors such as hormonal changes, anxiety, and constipation all contributing.

Menopause also brings about changes to the gut microbiome, leading to a decrease in gut bacteria diversity – which can make it more difficult for your body to digest food.

But by understanding what (and how) you eat impacts the gut, you can support a happier tum and smoother digestion.

Ditching foods that can trigger bloating can be helpful - such as beans and lentils, cruciferous vegetables, high FODMAP foods (such as onions, garlic, and honey), and carbonated drinks

However, tackling bloating isn’t only about ditching particular foods or habits. It also involves adding certain foods into your diet – with some known to aid digestion and reduce gut inflammation.

So, what ingredients should you incorporate into your fridge and kitchen cupboards?

Here are 8 foods that can help bust the bloat:

🫚 Ginger
🥝 Kiwi
💚 Fennel seeds
🌴 Papaya
🥬 Kimchi
🍌 Banana
🌿 Peppermint
🤍 Kefir

Are you trying any of these or have any bloat-busting hacks to share?
