Mary J. Blige, the one and only Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, performs “Not Gon’ Cry” at the 2015 North Sea Jazz Festival.

This track is one of MJB’s greatest hits, and for good reason. Mary’s heart wrenching vocals, paired with Babyface’s lyrics and production were a perfect musical, emotional quiet storm ⛈️

Many thanks to for preserving this beautiful concert set and salute to Queen , long may she reign 👑

De La Soul perform “Ring Ring Ring” at the 2019 Garorock Festival.

This is one of my favorite De La cuts. Back in the day I would use the hook (“why dontcha leave your name…”) as my voicemail. Many people were confused. But real ones knew 😉

Many thanks to and the incomparable (RIP Trugoy ❤️) for this wonderfully energetic clip.

R.I.P. to the late, great Isiah Whitlock Jr., a talented actor who brought class, style, and brilliance to a multitude of roles across prestige television and Spike Lee joints.

Yes, his iconic catchphrase makes an appearance in this montage, but Isiah was so much more multidimensional than that. So in today’s Styles Report, I’m honoring some of my favorite scenes from Mr. Whitlock, gone from us too soon. 🫡💐

Robin Thicke with a soulful, charismatic rendition of “Lost Without You” live from Noochie’s Front Porch. “Evolution” was my favorite Robin era. 🎶

Still amazes me that the son of Jason Seaver from Growing Pains grew up to be such a deeply emotive vocalist and musician. Credit where it’s due, the late great Alan Thicke was a great composer in his own right.

Salute to and for this stellar performance. 🔥🫡

Aretha Franklin performs “Something He Can Feel” in this gorgeous clip from in 1976.

No context needed. This one hits me straight to the core every time.

The late, great Queen of Soul ❤️💐.
