Florida Keys - Be along on the ride as the team heads out to a remote offshore reef to tackle large ocean swells generated in the Atlantic as they break over the shallow coral. 2. Hood River, Oregon- The beginning of the sport all started in the Columbia River Gorge at the small town of Hood River, so it makes sense that the longest running kite boarding competition is held in this area. The competition, called “Bridge of the Gods”, is not only unique in name but also unique is style. We will head out to Hood River as one of our riders enters the competition. The Pacific Northwest is a dynamic area and the weather can change in a heartbeat. See what happens when the weather throws the competition a curve ball and how the team adapts to the changing conditions.
3. Windy Bay, Alaska- On the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula lies an area exposed to the raging force of the Gulf of Alaska. The only access to this remote territory is by boat or crossing the mountains on foot. This area has never seen or even heard of Kiteboarding and we will use the unique geography that creates extreme wind to ride an area that most think is impossible. Join us as we head out on a 70-mile journey by boat to Windy Bay where we will camp in Bear Country as we wait for the weather to cooperate and attempt to ride the unpredictable Gulf of Alaska.
4. Columbia Glacier, Alaska- Alaska is a harsh an unpredictable world full of extreme conditions and breathtaking scenery. The wind generated from glaciers and ice fields is perfect for Kiteboarding but these winds can be unpredictable and extremely dangerous. The first stop is the port town of Whittier, the gateway to Prince William Sound. See what it takes to gear up and deal with these extreme conditions as we head out on a 60-mile adventure through glacier fjords towards the massive Columbia ice field. Join us as we run into amazing wildlife, camp on an uninhabited island surrounded by ice, and have to navigate through a floating ice field each morning with the ultimate goal of flying over icebergs the size of your home.
5. Oregon Dunes, Oregon- The coast of the Pacific Northwest is as brutal and unforgiving as any in the world and is the end of the line for huge swells that roll in from the Pacific Ocean. These swells are perfect for Kite Surfing. As the team gathers in the town of Portland, join us as we head South West to the Pacific Ocean and one of the most unique natural phenomena found on the west coast of the United States, the Oregon Dunes. See what happens as we use the natural formation of the Dunes to our advantage as we tackle the large ocean swells and try a little sand boarding off the massive Oregon Dunes.
6. Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah- The Salt Flats of Utah are notorious for one thing, speed. World record speed runs have been made here on everything from electric motorcycles to super cars breaking the sound barrier. Join us as we head out on a road trip from the beautiful Redwoods on the Northern Coast of California, across the desert of Nevada and ending up at the Bonneville Salt Flats. See what it takes to ride high Alpine lakes on our way through the dessert, ultimately ending up in Utah attempting to break the world speed record on a board being pulled by only a wind-powered kite.
