Affected Area: Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania, including the following counties, in central New York, Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins. In northeast Pennsylvania, Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna and Wyoming

Description: FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING.

Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

WHERE: Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania, including the following counties, in central New York, Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins. In northeast Pennsylvania, Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna and Wyoming.

WHEN: From Noon EDT today through this evening.

IMPACT: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Red Flag Warning for Bradford County, issued by National Weather Service Binghamton, NY 08:26 EDT Tue, Jun 6, 2023.

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HI FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 038, 039, 040, 043, 044, 047, 048, AND 072.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening. This upgrades the Fire Weather Watch previously in effect.

AFFECTED AREA: Fire weather zones 038, 039, 040. This includes Bradford, Susquehanna and Northern Wayne counties.

WIND: Northwest 15 to 20 mph, with gusts to 25 mph, especially over the higher terrain.

HUMIDITY: As low as 25 to 30 percent.

IMPACTS: Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of southeastern Bradford County through 400 PM EDT.

At 309 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Shunk, or 11 miles southeast of Canton, moving northeast at 25 mph.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

This strong thunderstorm will be near: Overton and Franklindale around 335 PM EDT. New Albany and South Branch around 345 PM EDT. Wyalusing and Sugar Run around 400 PM EDT.

Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of western Bradford County through 245 PM EDT.

At 200 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Lawrenceville to near Buttonwood to near R.B. Winter State Park. Movement was northeast at 40 mph.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Strong thunderstorms will be near: hGrover around 225 PM EDT. Canton around 230 PM EDT. Sylvania around 240 PM EDT. Troy and Springfield around 245 PM EDT.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM EDT MONDAY.

Heat index values up to 101 expected.

Locations: In New York, valley locations in eastern Sullivan County. In Pennsylvania, lower elevations of Bradford, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Pike counties, from 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Monday.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

The highest heat index values will be located across lower elevations and urban areas during the afternoon and early evening hours. Overnight lows remain elevated in the upper 60s to mid-70s, offering little relief.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM EDT THIS EVENING.

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

A portion of northeast Pennsylvania, including the following county, Western Bradford, until 845 PM EDT.

Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas and Water over roadways is expected.

At 540 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Canton, Troy, Ridgebury, Springfield, Sylvania, Wetona, Le Roy, Gillett, Grover, West Burlington, Alba, Leona, Cowley, Mount Pisgah State Park, Dunning, West Le Roy, Minnequa, Bentley Creek and Mosherville.

Some creeks may experience quick rises, including South Creek and Towanda Creek.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING.

Heat index values between 98 to 103 degrees expected in Bradford, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Lackawanna and Luzerne counties, from 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

The highest heat index values will be in the lower elevations and urban areas.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for: Southern Schuyler County in central New York, Chemung County in central New York, Southeastern Steuben County in central New York, Bradford County in northeastern Pennsylvania until 445 PM EDT.

At 415 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Sonora to near Lawrenceville to near Arnot, moving northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Severe thunderstorms will be near: Sonora and Monterey around 420 PM EDT. Caton, Tyrone and Grover around 425 PM EDT. Canton, Southport and Pine City around 430 PM EDT. Flash Flood Warning for Bradford County, issued by National Weather Service Binghamton, NY.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southern Bradford County in northeastern Pennsylvania until 1230 AM EDT.

At 921 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Canton, Wyalusing, New Albany, Overton, Franklindale, Monroeton, South Branch, Le Roy, Sugar Run, Grover, West Franklin, Wilmot, Hollenback, Monroe, Alba, Evergreen, Liberty Corners, Durell, West Le Roy and Terrytown.

At 929 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over New Albany, or 10 miles south of Towanda, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

IMPACT: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH LATE TONIGHT.

A band of thunderstorms will setup with heavy rainfall. Areas seeing multiple thunderstorms may expect 1-3 inches of rain with locally higher amounts to 5 inches. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

WHERE: Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania, including the following areas, in central New York, Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Tioga, Tompkins and Yates. In northeast Pennsylvania, Bradford.

IMPACTS: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 10 PM EDT this evening. The Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for Friday.

Affected Area: Northeastern Pennsylvania

Timing: 11 AM until 10 PM Today, with similar timing on Friday.

Winds: Northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Relative Humidity: As low as 15 to 20 percent in the afternoon.

Temperatures: 45 to 55 degrees today. 52 to 62 degrees Friday.

A BAND OF HEAVY SNOW WILL AFFECT PARTS OF SULLIVAN, OTSEGO, CHENANGO, BROOME, DELAWARE, SOUTHERN WAYNE, SUSQUEHANNA, LACKAWANNA, PIKE, WYOMING, NORTHERN WAYNE, BRADFORD, AND LUZERNE COUNTIES.

HAZARDS: A band of heavy snow which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile. This band of heavy snow is producing extremely heavy snow at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

LOCATION AND MOVEMENT: At 1133 AM EST, a band of heavy snow was along a line extending from near Caroga Lake to 6 miles west of Lovelton and moving northeast at 40 MPH.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE: Rockland, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Falls, Hazleton, Muhlenberg, Dunmore, Oneonta, Kingston and Fallsburg.

This includes the following highway exits: New York Interstate 81 1 and near 2 East. Interstate 86/Route 17 between 75 and 114. Interstate 88 between 5 and 19. Interstate 80 between 256 and 273. Special Weather Statement for Bradford County Issued by National Weather Service Binghamton, NY 18:05 EST Sun, Feb 27, 2022.

A SNOW SQUALL WILL AFFECT PARTS OF CHEMUNG, CHENANGO, TIOGA, BROOME, DELAWARE, SUSQUEHANNA, NORTHERN WAYNE, AND BRADFORD COUNTIES.

HAZARDS: A snow squall accompanied by winds of 30 MPH and greater which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than one mile.

LOCATION AND MOVEMENT: At 603 PM EST, a snow squall was along a line extending from near Windham to Chenango Bridge to near Elmira and moving southeast at 30 MPH.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE: Binghamton, Elmira, Vestal, Johnson City, Endicott, Southport, Barton, Big Flats, Horseheads and Kirkwood.

This includes the following highway exits: New York Interstate 81 between 1 and 7. Interstate 86/Route 17 between 50 and 57, and between 62 and 90. Interstate 88 between 1 and 9. Pennsylvania Interstate 81 near 230.

Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this squall. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 PM EST FRIDAY.

Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze.

WHERE: In Pennsylvania, Bradford, Susquehanna and Northern Wayne counties. In New York, Yates, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Tioga and Broome counties.

WHEN: From 10 PM this evening to 4 PM EST Friday.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

Snowfall rates could exceed 1 inch per hour at times between 1 AM and 7 AM.

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.

Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 6-7 inches or more in 12 hours possible in Pennsylvania, Bradford, Susquehanna and Northern Wayne counties. In New York, Tioga, Broome and Sullivan counties from late Thursday evening through Friday evening.
