🇰🇪 's President William said on Wednesday that he won't sign into law a finance bill proposing new taxes, a day after protesters stormed and several people were shot dead.

💸 The bill wanted to raise funds to pay off debt, but Kenyans said the bill caused economic pain, as millions struggle to get by.

✊ Violent clashes between police and erupted, and left at least 23 people dead and scores wounded. Protesters went as far as infiltrating the parliament building Tuesday, in what was the biggest assault on Kenya’s government in decades.

🗣️ In an address to the nation Wednesday, the president said the bill caused “widespread dissatisfaction” and he has listened to the people.

💬 said he would now start a dialogue with Kenyan youth, without going into details, and work on austerity measures - starting with cuts to the presidency's budget - to make up the difference in the country's finances. Credit France 24

The Southern Semifinal Conference concludes its activities with the announcement of the new executive board members

Today, the Southern Hemisphere Conference concluded its meetings in Cairo for five consecutive days with Divine Liturgy prayers and a commemorative photo for members. The conference aimed to promote cooperation between the Episcopal Churches, address common issues and provide an opportunity for bishops and church representatives to share experiences and experiences with one another.

The names of the new Presidents of the Executive Council who were confirmed after the election process were announced today are Archbishop Justin Badi, Archbishop Dr Sammy Fuzi, Archbishop Dr Titus Shing and Archbishop Stephen Kazimba and select member bishops are Bishop Melter Tice, Bishop Alex Farmer and Bishop Emmanuel Lomuru.

Seven clergymen were also chosen namely; Rev Geoffrey Bergoba from Uganda, Rev Charles David from Brazil, Archdeacon Darryl Creech from North America, Archdeacon Phil Ashi from North America, archdeacon Emad Basilios from Egypt, Rev William Ongeng from Uganda, Rev Peter Deng from South Sudan.

The conference includes lectures and panel sessions in which the work of all bishops and other traditional Orthodox groups are discussed in restoring the Church to its biblical and historical theological foundation, resetting its life rooted in faith and order, considering the Bible is the only source of correct education, as well as how to prepare leaders for the challenges that arise Facing the Anglican Church

Throughout the days of the conference, representatives of the Episcopal Territories around the world shared the news of the parochial and challenges from their respective regions facing each region, as well as workshops were held that addressed the pressing issues facing the Anglican Church, theology and peacebuilding strategies.

Anglican Global South First Assembly Convenes in Cairo for Day Two

Cairo, Egypt – June 12 – The Anglican Global South First Assembly (AGSF) continued its gathering today in Cairo, Egypt. The second day focused on themes of evangelism, mission partnerships, and equipping leaders for the challenges facing the Anglican Communion in the Global South.The day began with a Morning Prayer led by Bishop Andy Lines , followed by a Bible Study led by Archbishop Samy Fawzy.

The plenary session, titled "Taking the Gospel to the Nations: Evangelism and Mission Partnerships," featured a presentation by Archbishop Tito Zavala. The session explored strategies for strengthening evangelism and mission efforts within the Anglican Global South.

Representatives from participating provinces shared updates and news from their respective regions, followed by a group photo opportunity for all attendees.

The afternoon includes a range of workshops tackling issues facing the Anglican Church in the Global South, including theological education within the GSFA, strategies for peacebuilding and conflict resolution, economic empowerment through increased access to resources and training, and faithful leadership in provinces with diverse theological viewpoints.

The Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA) is a worldwide fellowship of Orthodox Anglican Provinces and Dioceses within the Anglican Communion which originated with 25 Provinces, 11 of which are fully covenanted members. There are also 3 Associate Provinces/Dioceses and 14 Mission Partner Anglican networks, theological colleges and mission societies.

South Africa's🇿🇦 President Ramaphosa Condemns 'Anti-Foreigner Violence'* South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has condemned a wave of looting and violence that has mostly targeted foreign nationals. "There can be no justification for any South African to attack people from other countries," he said on Tuesday. Dozens of people were arrested in Johannesburg on Monday. At least five people have been killed in the unrest. Other African governments have issued warnings to their citizens over the violence. Attacks on businesses run by "foreign nationals is something totally unacceptable, something that we cannot allow to happen in South Africa," Mr Ramaphosa said in a video posted to Twitter. "I want it to stop immediately," he added. Separately, the African Union (AU) issued a statement condemning the "despicable acts" of violence "in the strongest terms". Police fired tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades in an attempt to quell the unrest on Monday. The surge in violence also saw mobs loot shops, torch vehicles, and target lorries that were being driven by foreign nationals
