Do you show your face on social media - or your website? What are those images telling your audience?
Whether for your personal or professional brand- the images you use tell a story and convey a message. They can attract new clients - and help drive sales.
We were honoured to have award-winning photographer Vanda @vanda_szabo_photography talking to us live in The Homeworker community recently.
She shared some great mindset tips to help overcome nerves in front of the camera. She talked about the kinds of images you need for your business, how and where to use them, and some top tips for before, during and after a photoshoot.
The audience came away with lots of ideas and motivation!
The full replay of her webinar is inside our Subscribers Lounge - and of course - it was fun to see that she uses The Homeworker magazine as one of her props for her client shoots! 😁👏

A reminder to get out there and see people!
How do you make sure you improve your social scene when you work from home?
Day 11 of The Homeworker’s Twelve Tips of Christmas.
🎄
We are talking socialising.
Even for the most introverted, social interaction is crucial for wellbeing and mental health - and simply feeling part of society!
Seeing people everyday may have been something taken for granted in an office so injecting some social interaction into your day and week is so important when working from home too.
Social connections are a fundamental ingredient to happiness 😁
It just requires a little more effort.
But essential to stave off loneliness, boost your mental health, improve relationships and make useful connections for your business.
👇
Coworking
Coffee dates
Walks with friends
Family outings
Planning parties
Exercise classes
Community events
Networking
Sports clubs
Walking meetings
Lunch with friends
So many possibilities. Why not even host a coworking session with friends?

Day 9 of our Twelve Tips for Christmas and I want to address meetings.
They are so necessary these days, and when working remotely, we can find ourselves glued to a screen for hours on end.
The tips in this video are important for anyone who has to run or attend a meeting.
🎯 Does it have a purpose? What is the intention and what do you want to achieve from your meeting?
↔️ Do you have enough space and time between meetings to process and prepare?
👀 Back to back meetings lead to eye strain, screen fatigue and exhaustion.
📱 Does it even need to be a meeting? Could a phone call or email do the job more effectively?
🟰 If it is a hybrid meeting, is everyone getting the same opportunities and visibility?
These are a few points to consider for better meetings.
It is just one tip when you work from home and you can get them all in a beautiful free guide when you join our WFH Watercooler newsletter community.

What rituals do you have?
Having simple rituals in your day can act as a trigger for your brain to switch off from work.
Think about things such as:
📧 end of day inbox clearout
🥿 changing out of work clothes and putting on a favourite pair of slippers.
🕯️ Blowing out a candle
🖊️ Drawing a literal line in your planner to mark the day is done.
☕️ Switching your mug from your ‘work mug’ to a different one!
👥 A final debrief with your team (or yourself!)
Some of these may seem small or trivial but find a little ritual that works for you, that provides a sense of separation and a finality to your working day.
If you ever struggle to switch off - incorporating a little end of day ritual might help. It is something Dr Stephanie Fitzgerald @workplace_wellbeing has written about in The Homeworker magazine.
Do you have any rituals?

🎄It is day 6 of our 12 Tips for Christmas!
When it comes to communication, you need to consider three main groups of people.
🧑🏽💻 Clients & colleagues: The way we communicate with has changed. It is often now through a screen and using tech. It is so important that we become more proactive reaching out, ensuring everyone still feels comfortable to ask questions, speak up, and feels safe to pose ideas and get feedback. Keep lines of communication open and make sure it is regular and transparent!
👨👩👧👦 your household - we need to take them into account so they don’t feel as if they’re living in an office! Most important if you work in a communal space in the home. We need to establish boundaries, keep talking with them about availability, your hours, sharing workloads, and understanding everyone’s needs or issues.
💓 You! We talk to ourselves all the time - sometimes those messages aren’t too kind. You need to become aware of the inner critic and remember to speak positively to yourself. Be kind and encouraging because that will be much more motivating!

🎄Welcome to our twelve tips of Christmas! 😊
A little series if twelve WFH tips to help you with your homeworking success.
🎄Day 1 is all about your space… Creating your own home workspace can be one of the best things you do for your productivity, your happiness, and your sanity.
Whether you have your own office or a small nook in the living room, having a dedicated space helps you set boundaries, avoid distractions, and becomes a sanctuary. Create a space that makes you want to show up for work.
You often spend hours at your desk so make sure your space is: clutter free, personalised, well lit, well ventilated, and somewhere that makes you feel good. Bring the outdoors in with plants, make sure you have natural daylight, and experiment with colour, scent and music to create a space perfect for you, your wellbeing, and your productivity.
🎁By the way- you can get a download of all the tips in a beautiful guide for free when you sign up to our newsletter - link in the bio!

A bit of a milestone tomorrow.
The 20th issue of The Homeworker magazine is out!
Wow!!
I remember thinking about this moment when I published the first issue and wondering if it would even happen!
This video shows a snapshot of some of the stories we’ve covered and issues I’ve published, and I have to say, I’m feeling pretty proud. Its not often I say that!
It has made me pause and reflect a little on the last few years.
So much has changed since issue 1 when we launched, especially when it comes to how we work, and The Homeworker has been there, documenting it, living it, talking about it.
The aim as ever is for this to be a holistic and inspiring read and I am hugely grateful for the incredible people I’ve had the pleasure to work with on all the issues.
Twenty issues wow!
I’m also grateful to you. Our little community, and for those who’ve been there from the beginning. Your support is why this magazine still exists and why I have the motivation to keep it going.
There may be a few changes on the horizon as everything evolves over time but right now, marking 20 issues and some truly wonderful memories.
Thank you! 💚
