Last night I spent some time wandering through the Art Windsor-Essex At Night Event checking out the new exhibits.

During my visit I had a chance to listen to a great panel discussion about the power of literature and the importance of ALL students being able to see themselves within the books they read.

An insightful conversation about decolonizing the bookshelf and ensuring that our classrooms amplify Black voices and Black stories as part of the curriculum.

I think the same principles can apply to our social media feeds and the way we connect online.

How are we actively working to decolonize our social media?

What steps are we taking to ensure that we reach outside of our typical “online bubble” to include more diverse experiences, stories and perspectives?

Last night I went for a walk to see the Holiday Train make its arrival in Windsor! My husband and I brought two backpacks full of food pantry donations, checked out the lights and even got to see KT Tunstall and American Authors perform live.

I had a great time at the Windsor Region Society of Architects Better Cities Film Festival screening event last night! Always enjoyable to connect with the community and get inspired by other cities and organizations who are actively making the world a better place…..plus I got to eat schnitzel 😆

Have you heard? Starting December 13th, any posts with hashtags that you follow will not be shown in your feed.

This move is most likely directly related to Meta's AI-powered discovery engine that pulls from a vast range of signals to recommend content to you.

These days at least 50% of the content you see in most of your social media feeds is actually suggested from people/accounts/pages that you do not follow……and that is absolutely wild!

It’s a rainy, gloomy Thursday and I’m day-dreaming about spending it in a cafe with a warm lunch and a good book like I did last week at Anchor Coffee House 💭📚☕️

I love to cozy up on a yucky day, and I even find I’m a lot more productive, because there’s no temptation to “escape” outside 😆

Super excited to check out this FREE film screening event on November 21st in Windsor! I really enjoyed Windsor Region Society of Architects’s presentation with Jeff Speck earlier this year about the value of walkable cities, so these films are the perfect way to continue that conversation.

Truth be told, I haven’t been the most productive this week 🫠

I’ve found myself seeking out quiet moments and time in nature to unplug and focus on my mental health as a result of the election and the general state of the world.

I’m curious though, what do you do to centre yourself and find calm despite how hectic and unhinged things can get around you?

Whether it’s using a new app, trying out a new method, working with a new tool or taking a new strategic approach, there’s always value in switching things up…even if it’s temporary.
