filosmol is a tardigrade character I’ve been developing for the past few years. I was inspired to create filosmol after spend some time exploring and hanging out at Mt. Tabor when I first moved from Beaverton to NE Portland around 2019. Tardigrade are pretty incredible microorganisms that primarily live in and around lichen and mosses. Mt Tabor is an extinct volcanic vent in the middle of PDX that is home to some of the city’s open air reservoirs.

I may start selling 3D prints of my filosmol big keychain (which is about 7”x4” in size), but I’m trying to figure out reasonable pricing that also is able to support me as an artist with AuDHD and Depression. It’s been a rough couple of years for me with having burnout on several projects (both due to working with difficult manufacturing companies and just general AuDHD burnout)

Funding-wise I am trying to figure out if it makes more sense to start out with a crowdfunding campaign for the 3D prints so I can order more supplies (and potentially a second printer) before production, or if I should try selling them sort of “on demand” via my merch store/an Etsy store.

If you have experience in these areas, I welcome your suggestions to help guide the path for this creative project!
