Seis sitios piratas fueron bloqueados en Perú por intervención de Alianza audiovisual.

El Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (INDECOPI) concedió medidas cautelares para bloquear 6 sitios de gran popularidad. Las medidas cautelares dictan que la Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, miembro de Alianza, solicitó a la Comisión de Derecho de Autor, el bloqueo del acceso en territorio peruano respecto de un conjunto de nombres de dominio y direcciones IP, sobre las cuales señala que se encontrarían asociadas al funcionamiento de la aplicación para teléfonos celulares, televisores inteligentes, así como para ordenadores portátiles y de escritorio.

Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) managing director David Anderson has announced his intention to resign after almost six years at the helm of the national broadcaster. He will remain in the role until a new managing director is appointed, a process that could take until early 2025.

Anderson was first formally appointed as managing director in 2019 after serving in an acting capacity, and was reappointed in August last year for what was set to be a five-year term.

The executive will remain in the role until a new managing director is appointed.

Hub Entertainment Research shared new data from Maverix Insights & Strategy’s Media Identity Graph (MIDG) that revealed how audiences–especially younger audiences–are moving away from traditional viewing to social media and video, and how the share of aggregate watch time is shifting because of this.

The preference for social video over SVOD has grown steadily, with social video accounting for 62.2% of watch time in 2024, compared to 35.2% for SVOD.

Hub shared new data from Maverix Research and Insights’ Media Identity Graph that revealed how audiences are moving away from traditional viewing to social media and video, and how the share of aggregate watch time is shifting because of this.

Paramount UK’s Channel 5 is set to unify its linear and streaming offerings under a single brand, “5.” This strategic move aims to streamline the network and its streaming service, My5, enhancing viewer engagement.

The rebranded platform is slated to launch in Q1 of 2025, showcasing an expanded library that will feature popular shows from Paramount’s portfolio, including titles from MTV, CBS, and Comedy Central, as well as selections from Paramount+.

Fubo's request for a preliminary injunction of Venu Sports -the sports streaming joint venture to be launched by The Walt Disney Company, Fox Corp. and Warner Bros. Discovery- was approved by the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.

The temporary injunction comes just weeks ahead of the start of the season, when the platform was expected to launch.

The injunction was granted in response to a lawsuit brought by FuboTV, who had claimed that the new sports streaming platform was anticompetitive and would upend its business.

NBCUniversal’s Olympics coverage set audience record.

The company reached a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 30.6 million viewers across the combined live Paris Prime (2-5 p.m. ET) and U.S. primetime (8-11 p.m. ET/PT) time periods – up 82% from the Tokyo Olympics (16.9 million).

The NBC Broadcast Network extended its streak to 152 consecutive Summer Olympics nights as primetime’s No. 1 show.

BanklessTimes’ research showed that in Q2 ’21, Netflix had 209 million subscribers; now, this figure has snowballed to 277 million in Q2 ’24.

Moreover, Q2’s subscriber tally represented an increase of over 8 million subscribers from the previous quarter, making the first half of 2024 one of the best subscriber outcomes yet.

Bankless Times’ research showed that the streamer went from 209 million subscribers in Q2 ‘21 to 277 million in Q2 ’24.
