Second 'careers' are not just for Standardbred horses but for track sites as well.
From harness racing to housing, a contaminated site and historic Northville Downs horse-racing track is getting a second life thanks in part to EGLE brownfield funding. This $248 million redevelopment project will create over 400 new homes, three new parks, and daylight the Rouge River from its concrete culvert.
Read about the project:
EGLE awarded the Northville Brownfield Redevelopment Authority a $1 million grant to help pay for demolition of Northville Downs and the culvert, as well as removal of contaminated soil covering the culvert.
