Dearest Friends and Fans of The Hex,

We come before you with our hearts full of bittersweet gratitude, as we share an important update regarding our tremendous journey through the creation of HEX11.

After much reflection and consideration, we've come to the decision that we must take a hiatus from our current operations as HexComix until production of HEX11 is complete. While this might not come as a big shock given how our timelines have slowed following COVID, we still wanted to communicate with you about what might feel like an absence.

The journey we've embarked on together through HEX11 has been nothing short of magical and as we approach ten years (!!!) we are wildly amazed at what we have been able to accomplish. More than anything, your support, enthusiasm, and engagement have been the very lifeblood of this adventure, and it's you, our cherished readers and fans, who have made the last ten years the magnificent odyssey that they have been.

Taking a step back now is a way for us to recharge, gather new inspirations, and ultimately return to you with the rest of a story that reflects the badassery and epic quality that we have all come to know. While we may not be seeing you at shows and the next issues of HEX11 have no hard delivery date, this hiatus is far from a goodbye. Rather, it's a pause to breathe, to dream, and to plan the next exhilarating chapters in our shared saga.

During this period, we encourage you to stay connected with us through our social media channels and our Patreon (which will be made free for all), where we'll continue to share updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and perhaps a few surprises along the way. Your thoughts, your love for HEX11, and your anticipation for what's to come will be what keeps the magic alive in this interval.

Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and your unwavering support. We promise that the wait will be worth it, and the return of HEX11 will be a celebration not only of the story we all love, but of our collective passion for this community.

The level of courage it takes to show your work for the basis of feedback is massive. We were blown away by the level of talent! In 2019, we were invited to take over the instruction of a class at that was created and taught by Candace Lavin. The class is called Comic Book Heroes and it works in partnership with —our students work in groups to create short form comics based on the life experience of an It Gets Better youth ambassador. The fact that this class exists at all is remarkable (anything created by Candace was) but what the students create every semester *always* blows us away. In semesters past, we have dealt with students internally struggling with connecting to or telling the stories of people different from them and that struggle is the entire point. While the class itself serves to teach students how to work in a group and meet deadlines, they come to find that creating art that challenges you makes you a better artist and a better human. But even for the students who do see themselves in these stories or had similar experiences to the teens we work with, everybody ends the class more inspired, with deeper artistry, and greater compassion. Not to mention, tremendous comics to show for it.

Being an all-women comic team is truly rad but it’s not without its challenges. We never set out to make a statement—just to make a kickass book—but it really pi**es folks off sometimes.
