Crybaby Entertainment, founded by an original home grown music producer Damian Roman, is an independent record music label. This hugely talented producer created the record label in 1999 and officially registered the company in 2006. Damian’s quest for excellence has set a high standard for quality and perfection i
n his productions. This shows true in his work with well known successful artists such as Jimmy Dlu Dlu, who walked away with a SAMA (South African Music Award) for the song “Corners of My Soul” produced by Crybaby Entertainment. Damian produced and co – wrote the song “Tonite” placing singer Chad Saaiman on his journey to a hugely successful musical career. Ernie B and Nigel Morkel (Afro Z members) both brilliant Coca Cola Pop Stars contestants have both worked and recorded with Crybaby producer Damian Roman. Damian Roman named and produced Ernie B’s debut album “Take pleasure” and it was mixed & mastered by Craig Damster at the Mother City Records studios in Cape Town. CEO and one of the founders of this notable record label, Damian grew up in Retreat and fell victim to the negative cycle that deters our community’s kids from moving forward and becoming followers of their dreams. Damian pulled himself out of this perpetual cycle and has now become focused on giving other young people the opportunity to turn their lives around through music. He is passionate about preventing valuable young talent from falling through the cracks. Crybaby Entertainment has astonishing and raw talented artists that make up the driving force of the label with a staff of 4; himself as CEO; a personal assistant; assistant producer and a public relations consultant. He has signed phenomenal undiscovered but super talented singers, all the while recording works for established artists Klint Lotz (lead singer of Brown Sugar), Jarred de K**k (member of singing group Satisfaction) as well as Emile Jansen of Black Noise who is also an adjudicator on the television series “Step up or Step out”. Crybaby Entertainment is associated with Mother City Records, owned by Craig Damster. Together this duo has worked on various television adverts aired on DSTV channels and proudly completed Emile Jansen’s (Black Noise) album. The label took a break during 2008 for a period of preparation. During this time Damian with his “stop-at-nothing” attitude started studying business and researched successful record companies in order to equip himself with the essential skills to manage Crybaby effectively; professionally and ultimately, successfully. As from the 1st of August 2011, Crybaby Entertainment returns, stronger and more vibrant than ever before!! Damian full of fire and ready to utilize his newly acquired business knowledge and skills has come back into the industry bringing out astounding artists hand picked by the label itself. With the emphasis on the less fortunate communities in the Cape Town areas, the Crybaby family is not only known for their superiority in music but also for the great commitment they have made to the people of Cape Town. The Crybaby family is involved in many community projects including workshops at Bonnietown, aiming to encourage juveniles to get their lives back on the right track. They also work closely with the CANSA Association and various other outreach programs such as Virgin Active where the Crybaby artists performed at an AIDS awareness day held in Claremont, and they will continue working with, and supporting this worthy cause. In the past, Damiaaan did extensive promotional tours in schools with the hopes of opening the minds of young children. The message was to teach young people to use their creativity and God given gifts to obtain an income. “We would like to see more Capetonian people succeed in achieving their dreams by self-motivating and educating themselves by doing the necessary research to perfect their art.”
To this day Crybaby Entertainment has overcome many challenges which were taken and treated as valuable experiences, allowing them to learn more about who they are as individuals, and also to keep in mind that they should never quit and live up to the standards that they have set out for themselves
