Hangar 18 Media is looking for a full-time production accountant.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- We are an up-and-coming production company, who adapts quickly to digital technologies and new software and is constantly looking for new ways to create more efficient accounting and record-keeping workflows
- We currently work in the low-budget feature film (mostly horror) realm, with films budgeted from $1mil to $6mil CAD
- We are looking to team up with an experienced yet open-minded Production Accountant who is willing to adapt to new technologies and quickly adapt to new workflows.
- You will lead the Production and Post-production Accounting on all Hangar 18 Media productions, and help strategize the financing, accounting and cash flow among the slate of our projects
- Working with payroll company on setting up of the paperwork for Talent & Crew payroll, checking and monitoring for errors, and ensuring flawless data transfer from production to the payroll company
- Supervise electronic crew onboarding
- Producing regular Cost Reports for ongoing projects
- Preparation of reports for for Tax Credit Admin team
- Preparation of specific Cost Reports and various accounting and financing breakdowns for funding agencies- Ontario Creates, TeleFilm, NOHFC, etc
- Supervising of Assistant Accountants for general bookkeeping and data entry (receipts, invoices, etc)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- You have a minimum experience as Production Accountant on at least 5 feature film productions IN CANADA (Preferably Ontario)
- You understand what it means to “work smarter not harder”
- You have your preferred accounting software but you are willing to try new things
- You constantly looking for ways to simplify the work
- You possess a thorough understanding of the accounting and reporting requirements involving Provincial and Federal Film Production Tax Credits
- You have experience with Quickbooks Online (QBO)
- You have experience and thorough understanding of general corporate accounting and Canadian tax laws
- Thorough understanding of government and union payroll requirements (WSIB, fringes, EI, CPP, Employee vs. Contractor, etc)
- You know production and post-production processes well and are well-versed with various budget formats
- You are a wizard with spreadsheets, particularly Google Sheets
- You are a self-starter and you are never wondering what your next task is
