Some more on-set photos from shooting the feature film "Black Creek" late last year. Filmed at the Mescale Movie Set in Benson Arizona (east of Tucson), where countless westerns were shot including "The Outlaw Josey Wales", "The Quick and The Dead", and "Tom Horn". Black Creek is headlined by the amazing Cynthia Rothrock and has a fantastic cast; it's currently in the late stages of post-production.
Cut On The Action recently journeyed to Phoenix, AZ to film for Prophix, a Canadian company with a financial performance platform. We turned the presidential suite at the resort into a studio to film over 35 interviews, and also filmed the rest of the three-day event run-and-gun-style to make a highlight/sizzle reel (YouTube link below). We love filming on the road and the Prophix people and their customers were fantastic to work with. Truly good times.

Some recently declassified behind-the-scenes photos from shooting the feature film “Black Creek” last November in Arizona. Days were hot and nights were freezing; most of the shoot took place at night. Good times! Black Creek is currently in post-production and will be released later this year.
Filming Shannyn Aspen on greenscreen yesterday for a series of corporate videos for Docker. Matthew was ably and cheerfully assisted by her canine wonder Aspen, as seen in these BTS photos. Fantastic shoot!
Happy Women's Day to all women in the world! Cut On The Action filmed MPINCC - Meeting Professionals International Northern California Chapter's ACE event this week at Convene in San Francisco, giving us the chance to work with and to film numerous amazing and inspiring women; what a treat. The final speaker was Dima Ghawi from Jordan; her life's story is remarkable and how she dealt with adversity is a great lesson for us all. I highly recommend her memoir "Breaking Vases".
Cut On The Action went on the road for several weeks in late October and November to shoot the feature film "Black Creek" in the Arizona desert; we are still restricted in what we can release about it but here is the first set of declassified photos. It was a grueling shoot with each day's work going until 4:30 am in the freezing and dusty desert (so many night scenes), but we loved every minute of it. The cart photo is from the first shooting day on the way to set and the photo of Matthew holding the camera is from the last day - still smiling :) Headlined by the amazing Cynthia Rothrock, directed by Shannon C. Lanier and written by Robert Clancy, it was an honor and a pleasure to work with the cast and crew as we bonded and triumphed during this very ambitious and successful shoot.
Cut On The Action filmed a music video yesterday with longtime collaborator Mike Pierce. The incredibly talented Robert Barry performed along with two members of Boston; the song was touching and emotional and the performances perfectly reflected that. B-cam was using our Nikkor primes wide open, which gave a very organic and unique feel to the shots. We didn't get back until 11 pm but couldn't help staying up later to review the shots.
It's AI week at Cut On The Action as we film and post-produce a video for a very promising stealth AI startup. We filmed the founders yesterday and got a deeper insight into their unique and practical approach to how AI can actually help individuals. Can't say more right now but we fully enjoyed interviewing these interesting and sharp people. Cut On The Action has been involved in AI for many years now but have been heavily focused this year on finding AI initiatives that consider all the ramifications of this evolving technology.

Cut On The Action filmed at Intel Innovation yesterday at the San Jose Convention Center. Our two-camera shoot involved filming demos and interviews with a number of Intel executives; ambient noise is always a challenge for these environments but our post production tools will help dial that out to a large extent. Shoot day is always a great day!

Matthew brought his 30+ years of media production and working with Silicon Valley's best companies to the conversation, along with his experiences navigating multiple waves of disruptive innovation. Cut On The Action continued filming our new documentary yesterday with an impromptu shoot using solo camera and solo crew. Sometimes a minimalist approach can bring some of the best results when interviewing a subject about difficult things and that was the case yesterday. Minimalist can still be top quality if you know what you're doing; a little fill light and good composition gets the job done and in this case, the less distraction by the production process the better. Our doc is about Cang D**g (pictured), a South Vietnamese Green Beret and Ranger who defended his country for 10 years and then survived another 10 years of brutal prison camps. His is a story of determination in the face of the worst odds, and of learning the right lessons from life's challenges.
Shoot Day 2 on Cut On The Action's new documentary last Sunday took us to the Santa Clara County Government Center for the Former Vietnam Armed Forces' Day event. Cang D**g, South Vietnamese special forces soldier and the subject of our doc was there along with many Vietnamese veterans, their families and local politicians to remember their lost country and to commemorate all who fought and sacrificed to keep it free. The United States flag was prominent in all formations and was given the proper courtesy, highlighting the partnership and shared struggle of our peoples. I was really moved when they played the United States national anthem followed by the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) national anthem. War brings out the worst in people but also the best; bravery, courage and love was clearly present among all the veterans male and female who attended this event.
Photos from Shoot Day 1 last Saturday of Cut On The Action's new documentary on the remarkable life of Cang D**g, a South Vietnamese Special Forces soldier who served alongside Americans to protect his homeland, a country that no longer exists except in the minds and hearts of its former citizens. We launched this production within a week of meeting Cang's son Franky D**g and learning of this story. Saturday was a three-camera shoot. Yes, we move really fast when the situation warrants.
