We spoke with Blake Rose, the Australian alt-pop trailblazer who recently made his TV debut on James Corden, nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards, and is soon touring the UK supporting Mimi Webb in April. Blake has just released a new EP titled ‘You’ll Get It When You’re Older’.

The EP sees Blake taking the reins as producer on the bulk of the material and steering the overall vision. At the same time, his writing has grown more personal, taking the project’s title from a direct dialogue with his sister over a decade prior.

One from the archives 🎞🌵 “A chance encounter that grew into a friendship that led to a mad three day road trip of mustangs and trucks and birds. We hit all the deserts roads, liquor stores and gas stations along the way. Found ingenious ways to cool down including The Coopers garden sprinkler in Santa Clarita. Had a wild time in Vegas and lost our money. Then woke up to see England win in the world cup (but not win overall). A visit to Area 41 to buy alien jerky and lots of coffee ended up with an early AM ride through a 120f Death Valley the wrong way, but wow what an adventure. Lucille has set on a journey of regaining her power with her new highly anticipated EP Patient X. Through the album imagery and storytelling of Patient X, Lucille uses the challenges and prejudices she faced being a female in a male- dominated music industry as ammo to create an explosive EP full of fight and attitude. Serving as the Lara Croft for the Electronic music world, Lucille has created five badass tracks with experimental and cyberpunk- inspired sounds, pulling influences from the worlds of science-fiction and FPS (first-person shooter) games. Aquarium, 25 years on. We spoke to the iconic Danish-Norwegian pop group Aqua about the legacy of ‘Barbie Girl’ and if it would have had the same success if released today. The doll-centered storyline and kitschy music video perfectly matched the playful aesthetic of the 90’s. The single raced to the top of the charts worldwide and became an instant classic. Even though the song sounded tailor-made for children, the lyrics told a different story, which infuriated parents everywhere.
