Robin Young shows up with an authentic letter from Duane Ingalls Glasscock. I can't remember the "other" story... but didn't Robin unlist her phone after Duane called on air? And something Duane said to her, "do you mind if I eat while you smoke?" ...so me, the lucky wiseguy today when I heard her name yelled, "Robin, Do you smoke??!!" No one got it, and Charles was too far to hear it... Rotten ether...

Happy Birthday David Beeber!! (sic Bieber) From branding WBCN to discovering Eddie Gorodetsky, to turning alll that chazerai into the defacto greatest Boston pop collection to the everyday genius. David once compared Billy West to the Passover standard, Dayenu- a perfect description of another genius...but one that also fits David. And as I think back and remember the time he beat Mark Parenteau in "naming that song" with nothing more than a few off key mumbles... absolutely pi***ng off Mark who owned that game... (Pata Pata) it's been a great run that continues to this day. So here's to you, the pop culture maven, historian of the schtick, a mench and fine friend.

Working at the REAL WBCN in the 80's... it was 38 years ago this month that a Pl***oy publication somehow arrived in engineering. David Bieber advised there was a relationship between the magazine and station- in any event we got a magazine with a very cute girl in it. Really cute- did I mention that?

So with the razors used to cut magnetic recording tape she came out of the magazine but even BCN had limits- she could never be in open view...so she ended up inside the cabinet door over my desk- as seen in the video still of Oedipus and Ed de la Fuente hmm. Not sure why I can't see her in the video. The video and publication are both 1985.

Paul Sferruzza, who hated being called Tank but went along with it...saw her and immediately name her, "Commander P***y"...of course it stuck.

Visitors to BCN engineering would open the cabinet for a peek, say "hi" and be on their way. This is what prompted Billy West to mention my "Hustler collection" (which didn't exist) in my going away tribute. Even Mark Parenteau would greet Commander P***y.

Years later I found I still had the photo and posted it out here in my lab until Pamela my wife saw it and said, "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT??"
I couldn't say, "Commander P***y" but did cover the fun parts with electrical tape. Ruining an important part of Americana.

Last weekend I was antiquing with Pamela and they had all these Pl***oy magazines... but the Commander wasn't in there. The remembrance was sparked and I went online and bought Feb 1986 on Ebay.

Was surprised it was a full centerfold, apparently the original was from the previous "Girls of Texas" pub. 1985

So to all the BCN family, listeners, friends, I introduce to you, Ms. Julie McCulluough also of TV's Growing Pains. "Commander P***y" ...and NOT ever in a derogatory tone, but as Boston's best radio station's pal forever.
