It was March 2021 when I got hit with Tinnitus. I'm not sure what caused it but I woke up with a headache and ringing in my left ear.
Since getting tinnitus, my daily routine has become tough. I work night shifts at a BPO and take care of my child in the morning.
At first it was hard to accept and there was no moment I didn't think about it until I just embraced it. Like what I read online, there seems to be no cure for it yet.
I visited a specialist, and he said one in 100,000 people worldwide has tinnitus, like him, dealing with it for over 20 years. He stays busy to distract himself. The ringing never stop but he's learned to accept and live without letting it bother him.
I lost my job in February 2023, and I think tinnitus played a part. Initially, I thought I could handle it, but facing such challenges is tough. Since losing my job, anxiety and depression have hit me hard, making the ringing in my ears from tinnitus more noticeable.
I struggled to find a new job and it's challenging to find a company that would accept me. One of my issues is that my hearing is deteriorating, and I'm always distracted and easily get sleepy.
This September, I had an interview with a company and made it through to the final round. However, during the interview, I couldn't convince the interviewer to hire me. But it seemed like they noticed I was distracted and asked about my family. In that moment, I shared that my partner is due in October, and I have a child in elementary school.
They understand my situation and hired me in October. However, some companies have strict rules during training, and I couldn't meet them due to my partner's upcoming delivery and my tinnitus.
People who don't experience this don't understand. I chose to keep my feelings to myself because if I let myself break down nothing good will come of it.
Currently I'm unemployed, partly due to the setbacks I faced recently. I decided to try social media platforms for alternative opportunities.
