The dwellers of Dhaka city had never confronted such type of war. In the search of identity and consciousness the mass movement took the shape of a great civil war that separated East from West Pakistan. And the rest remains a history. The partition that depicts the worst case of violence and civil war that further down the road is unable to separate itself from fact and fiction. As a result, the incorrect and wickedly adopted figure of three millions death and 200,000 rapes in 1971 has been given so much stress that this lie has become a part of historical facts. How these figures came into existence is the question which has managed to become a global debate among history writers throughout the world. Distortion of facts and figures has managed to circulate till now as all the narratives contradict each other. The concept behind "1971 War: The Other Side of story" is to show the conflicting narratives through facts from different sources that portray the multidimensional aspects of the issue.
