South Asia Monitor A perspective on the region https://southasiamonitor.org/ South Asia is the region where one-fourth of the world’s population lives.

It is a melting pot of multiple ethnic, cultural and linguistic groupings with a long history of dynamic human interactions, territorial realignments, social and religious movements, cultural assimilations and ingrained economic exchanges. Though the region has been viewed, explained and explored through various perspectives, there has been a longstanding need to create a comprehensive resource ba

se on and for South Asia - not just for the eight countries that constitute it, but, more importantly, for the rest of the world which is increasingly drawn into its triumphs and travails. Until recently, there has not been a single comprehensive source that global policymakers can turn to for highly informed perspectives on South Asia. South Asia Monitor is a window to the region, the one-platform resouce of information, knowledge and debate on security, conflict management, diplomacy, culture and economy, among others, concerning the eight countries that comprise the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). South Asia Monitor is maintained and curated by SPS (www.spsindia.in)

The attacks are important for more reasons than one. First, resentment of the Baloch people is a key reason for these attacks. Second, these could further slow down the CPEC project which already has not progressed as expected. Third, Islamabad’s ties with not just India but also Iran and Afghanistan are already strained. Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan could witness a further downhill trajectory.
