The temple is dedicated to St. to the apostle Luke. According to old tradition, the monastery was founded by Vukan Nemanjić's granddaughter in the 13th century. We have the most information about monastic life from the 17th and 18th centuries. Died by the Turks in 1853. It was rebuilt in 1881 by the foundation of Prince Nikola (raised for the soul of his uncle Prince Danilo). The current sisterhood has been in the monastery since 1997.
Malé náměstí is a small triangular square that adjoins the Old Town Square. One of the houses standing in the square is a house that has V. J. Rott written in capital letters on it, which is why it is also called the House at the Rott. In 1850 the house was bought by the family of Vincenc Josef Rott. His son Ladislav then had the house rebuilt as a department store at the end of the 19th century. Therefore, various professions (blacksmith, carpenter, gardener) are displayed on the facade of the house, which is supplemented by the inscription “Saint Wenceslas don`t let us perish, nor our descendants”, which are the words of the Saint Wenceslas Chorale from the 12th century. The author of the sgraffito is one of the most important Czech painters of that time, Mikoláš Aleš. It is known that he didn`t physically participate in the creation of sgraffito because he suffered from dizziness and therefore could not climb the scaffolding. He therefore created the templates according to which the sgraffito was created. In 1948, of course, the house and the company were taken over by the Communists and the Rott family emigrated.

More than 100 of these alohtone wild herbs complete this garden’s image. Garden plant habitats are framed by stone drywalls - grimaces - compounded in the tradition of island folk architecture. From the garden retreats and relaxation areas you can enjoy a beautiful view all the way to the mountain of Velebit.
FREEDOM SQUARE, in its current form, was officially opened on National Day, July 13, 2018. It is paved with autochthonous stone from Nikšić. There is a fountain in the central part, and at the corners there are spaces intended for catering activities, as well as four old, reconstructed fountains. Monuments to King Nikola and Čedomir Ljub Čupić, along with the existing beautiful ambience, give the Square a timeless value.
The monument to King Nikola was built as a sign of gratitude to King Nikola, the founder of the new, modern Nikšić after liberation from Turkish rule. It was installed on Freedom Square in Nikšić on May 9, 2006. The author of the monument is the sculptor Miodrag Živković. The monument is a figure of the king on horseback, whose height with the pedestal is 9.15 meters.
The monument to Ljub Čupić, called Hero na korzu, is the work of Zlatko Glamočak. It is 2.20 meters high and 0.90 meters wide and is located on Freedom Square. The square and the corridor had special symbolism for the hero Ljub Čupić. That promenade was used for the last time, before the shooting. At the end of April 1942, after a battle near Nikšić, Ljubo Čupić fell into the hands of the Chetniks, who sentenced him to death by firing squad. After the sentencing, he was taken out of the courtroom, a former theater building, and that's when a photograph was taken that went around the world. His smile was immortalized by the official photographer of the Italian fascists, Karlo Ravnič, and the film was preserved by the famous Nikšić photographer Migo Zorić. He was shot on May 9, 1942 at Petrova glavica, in the old cemetery, behind the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and was declared a national hero on July 10, 1953. It was recorded how Jean-Paul Sartre spoke about Ljubo Čupić's character, who asked to be photographed next to the famous photograph, and with what admiration and respect Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter Indira Gandhi stood in front of
