🥖 Homemade bread that’s not sourdough? How dare I.
Sometimes you just need a food French loaf and good grass fed butter on a Tuesday. Bread is not the enemy.
This is the easiest bread recipe. I’ve been making it for a few years now and it hits the spot. You DO NOT need a stand mixer. It works just fine using your hands.
There is such a sense of pride in making your own food. This makes the perfect app with olive oil and seasonings or just enjoy it with homemade jam for breakfast.
Here’s what you need 👇🏼
•2 Tablespoons Yeast
•½ cup Warm Water
•2 cups Hot Water
•3 Tablespoons Sugar
• 2 ½ teaspoons Salt
• ⅓ cup Avocado Oil
• 6 ½ cups Flour
• 1 Egg for brushing on bread
Here’s what to do 👇🏼
1. In a small bowl, dissolve your yeast in ½ cup warm water. Make sure that your water is warm (not too cold, not too hot). Let proof for 10 minutes.
2. In a separate mixing bowl, combine hot water, sugar, salt, oil and 3 cups of the flour and mix together. Add the yeast mixture to a bowl.
3. Add the remaining 3 ½ cups of flour, one cup at a time, mixing after each addition. Watch for it to start pulling away from the bowl to know it's ready. Once all of the flour is added, let sit for 10 minutes.
4. Separate your dough into 3 pieces. On a floured surface roll each piece into a 9x12 rectangle. Roll it up like a jelly roll. Shape into a french bread loaf and smooth out edges.
5. Place the dough on a greased baking pan or a Silpat, seam side down. Using a knife, make 3-4 diagonal cuts about ¼ inch thick in bread. Brush with your beaten egg.
6. Let dough rise uncovered for 30-40 minutes in a warm place.
7. Bake at 375 for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown.

You’ll want to SAVE this one and keep it on repeat 🥭🫐🥑 follow HALEY hendel for more.
These flavors together are unreal. You can even throw it on top of dishes if you don’t want to eat it with chips.
Here’s what you need 👇🏼
2 mangoes, diced
1 cup blueberries
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
Juice of 2 lines
1 avocado, cubed
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 chili lime seasoning
This salsa is hands down my new favorite. 🫐 here’s a tip since blueberries are in season : bite into one before you buy a container. You don’t want the inside to be white. Darker color = stronger antioxidant properties.

Ever buy a watermelon that has good flavor but it’s mealy? And just not the way you like it? Turn it into ice cream.
3 cups FROZEN watermelon
1/2 cup milk of choice (I tried it with coconut and whole milk, both turned out great)
Optional squeeze of a lemon or lime
If you want to be fancy, rim a cone with honey and chili lime seasoning. This would also be amazing with Mango 🥭

SAVE for a good summer salad 🥬 🍋 🧀 Follow HALEY hendel for more.
Veggies can taste good when you make them the right way. And this salad will leave you saying KALE YEAH! It’s corny, just laugh.
What to do 👇🏼
Grab a bunch of kale
Remove the stems
Finely chop (this is important)
Throw into a bowl
Add a drizzle of EVOO, juice of 1 lemon, and a few punches of salt
Massage kale (don’t miss this step) for 3 min
Top with fresh Parmesan, minced garlic (I used 2 cloves) and chopped almonds.
I also lovd to add chicken to this and I’m thinking about making homemade croutons next 🫶🏼

SAVE this for your next visit to the farmers market or grocery store.
A new month means new in season foods. If you can shop locally, I recommend doing so. It can be easy to forget that produce has seasonality.
Why is this important to note?
Foods that are local and in season are
1. More fresh. Taste better. More nutritious.
2. Cheaper due to higher quantities.
3. They avoid overseas transportation + contaminates. And there is less irradiation of the produce.
4. They are also more sustainable and support your local economy.
We’ve let convenience take over our decision making and the thought that goes behind our food. Being more intentional with the food you are eating does so much for your overall well-being.
Here are some in season foods for MAY : artichoke, cherries 🍒 , avocado 🥑, mango 🥭 , zucchini, kale 🥬 , bell peppers 🫑, and leeks.
