First post on the blog in a long while, put some legwork into this one and hope it's helpful. "The Most Missing Audiobooks of 2024" lists out fiction, anthologies, collections, non-fiction, and even some poetry! titles from last year that didn't get audio editions, some of which I'd really, really, REALLY like to see! like Nathan Ballingrud's Crypt of the Moon Spider, Sofia Samatar's The Practice, The Horizon, and the Chain -- and several other Philip K. Dick Award finalists as well. My hope is that readers see this (of course) and especially that audiobook publishers see this and make some magic happen! (Hint hint, Tantor Audio, Podium Entertainment, Deyan Audio, Dreamscape, Skyboat Media...)

Another year has come and gone, bringing so many books and audiobooks that already, of course, one can’t get to them all in a lifetime, let alone 12 months. Still, some of the titles I most anticipated — or was most surprised by! — last year did not come out in audio editions, and as I used to...

Pre-order watch! What's coming up that's already claimed your credits? Sneaking this in before TOMORROW'S release of T. Kingfisher's "Paladin's Faith" ahead of Lev Grossman's "The Bright Sword" and yes, well another T. Kinfisher title ("A Sorceress Comes to Call") in August. And then there's one I barely remember since I pre-ordered it back in November of last year...

My "DevirtualizeAudible" browser plugin (to hide "Virtual Voice" narrations from search listings so I can actually see human-narrated titles) is live and approved on both the Firefox and Chrome extension marketplaces. So go ahead and give it a try! (Links in comments, screenshot shows what a page of 20 results looks like when you can actually see one real title instead of it being buried under 19 "virtual" ones.)

I know I'm tilting at windmills but anyway here's a Firefox/Chrome extension to filter out "Virtual Voice" (a.k.a. "AI Narrations") from your Audible search results when you are browsing. Not yet approved by the official add-on marketplaces but in submission, until then you can test it out if you'd like. At the time of this writing, of the latest 100 new titles in science fiction and fantasy, only 11 are narrated by actual human beings. I just got tired and tired of having to scroll through all of this garbage.
