Animals "feel" air pressure and electrical changes well before a thunderstorm hits. Begin diffusing essential oils early on a day when storms are predicted. You can also pet or stroke oils onto your pet's body, especially around the neck (where oils are close to the nose) as storms become more imminent.
Here is a partial list of oils that have calming abilities:
Lavender
Vetiver
Valerian
Cedarwood
Angelica
Ylang ylang
Roman chamomile
German chamomile
Rose
Lime
Frankincense
Blue tansy
Clary sage
Pine
Melissa
Palmarosa
Tangerine
Experiment around with your animals, as not all animals respond the same way to a particular oil.
Try to introduce your animals to Essential Oils prior to thunderstorms. I do this by placing the open bottle on the floor and waiting for them to come to it, or by putting the oil on myself and letting my dog become more familiar with it .. no worries if they lick it off … Young Living EO’s are all natural!
