I just came across my magazine New York Game & Fish magazine from when my brother and I harvested our PB bucks on public land, one during archery and mine during rifle still hunting. Something cool to look back at.

This was a video from a few seasons ago, we actually took 5 public land bucks in 5 days. I harvested one before they did and got one the day after in PA. Family time is precious so enjoy it! Great video link above in my story for this!

Was really impressed yesterday with the size of these old growths I found in this patch as I walked mile after mile, massive oaks and ash. Perfect straight tall and over 8-12 ft round at the bases. Although, I found great deer and buck sign for future hunts I did not turn a buck yet, but I enjoyed being around these trees. This was the largest I found and unfortunately had snapped in half.

After 3 weeks of not seeing a buck on my NY cams I saw one two nights ago at 2Am. I altered my plans on the fly to hunt this ridge and luck was on my side. I was blessed to have a NY Buck down after having such a slow start.

I had shot a lot of broadheads over the years and many did okay, but these whitetail special pro series 3 blade mechanical literally devastated this buck dropping him 20 yards from where I smacked it. I hit him at a steep quartering away shot clipping liver it broke through the opposite ribs when the buck ran it retracted the arrow and when his legs kicked again it moved forward to his front shoulder neck region and every motion of running repeated the cycle. I have no doubt in my mind that these are the best broad-heads I ever used. I wish I hit my bear with them this year, would have been a different outcome. PA was good to me, but I can tell NY seems to be a tough year on public land this season. Are the bucks locked down? Not sure, but I am about to push it again and again until I drop my buck!

This was a buck my brother got that dressed 205 in the ADK and took the big Buck contest that season. Tomorrow is the opener in Lower NY Catskill region and although it’s nice to be rifle hunting again, it’s not the same when your family you been hunting with for 30+ years are not there to share in the excitement! Ridge runner! The rocks chip away at the hoof, those distinct characteristics are what separates them along with other signs when tracking them into a heavily congregated area. Small signs to look for, but noticeable in the prime snow conditions

I worked extremely hard this season to harvest a mature whitetail on film with the bow, the 100+ miles all over searching paid off. Successfully filmed this hunt as well, but working at gaining more content in other states so please stay tuned and subscribe to my channel this will be my best season to date footage wise and this Buck is my PB archery to date.

I always think about this buck from my second year trying to learn NJ public land “The Sea of Orange” as they say so many people I would see up over 30 hunters. Not my style by any means, but provides two tags when I’m filled in NY and PA. I watched this buck wounded limp in and bed in front of me at 100 yds for an hour while I ate my lunch. As I got up to go shoot it a fella crested the ridge and shot it. I didn’t know the land as I was just still hunting and wandering each day, proved successful, but clearly waiting is not the choice to make in NJ. After helping the guy gut and drag his deer out a ways I realized he only shot one other Buck in his life and was so excited to have this buck, at that moment I realized that I was happier that he got the buck more than I did. Being wounded the week before it already had Gang-green and I would not of eaten that, at the end of the day a rack is beautiful, but the Rump Roast is the prize ✋🤣😆💥
