On Monsay, July 15th, family, friends, & fans are gathering at Antone's to remember Michael Corcoran. The Austin music scene wouldn't be the same without Corky... As a music writer, critic, historian, and guy-about-town, he constantly reminded us about how lucky we are to be here at this time. ATTENTION and Hello from “broken plumbing nightmare on the hill.” After many days of being unable to function up here, we are opening today with some sparkly clean and bedazzled porta potties.

We are hobbling along trying to get our water supply back in operation but it seems to be a never ending struggle when we get a blast of weather that takes these old buildings down to their knees. What we are asking is that you either buy some merch or come out to the bar by the truckload and order some cold beer or warm whiskey to help us pay for our mounting plumbing repairs.

Before this storm hit, we over insulated and prepared more than ever ! But this hill gets colder than anywhere else in this area, with 11 degree temps measured this week. CPVC is not cutting it - every year we get repairs and they don’t hold. We now specifically have to replumb with PEX in order to keep this from happening. With supplies low, sometimes PVC is the only alternative so even temporary fixes with the same material will have to be replaced on a future date. We chase our tails and pour money into yet another hole. But we learn and we when we get a little cash, we put it right back into this place. We are not backed by investors or non-profit grants. It’s just John and I, pouring everything we have into this historic establishment.
