On the day WELCOME Magazine was unveiled, March 27, 2008, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, issued a stunning report: "Population Explosion Continues, Metro Area Ranks 2nd in Growth." I was tickled pink to learn that over 151,000 newcomers relocated to Atlanta between July 2006 and July 2007, according to the U.S. When I moved to Atlanta on May 27, 1977, metro Atlanta did not have a million residents. For every new person who moves here, there is a different reason for making the pilgrimage. One thing for sure, we are all seeking a better way of life and an avenue to turn our dreams into solid accomplishments. Atlanta is the place. One such keeper of the dream is Tony Morrow, former New Yorker, who is the owner and executive chef of the Pecan Restaurant. Chef Morrow graced the cover of our 2nd edition. He too has dreams and found a way to make the American dream become a reality. It's not just individuals who have hopes and dreams for a finer life in Atlanta. Allow me to introduce you to the Atlanta Writers' Club, an organization founded in 1914. Several members and their former president, Marty Aftewicz, are featured from time to time in WELCOME Magazine. Whether you have been living in Atlanta for a day or a decade, I hope you will enjoy our publication as we celebrate this mecca of a city called Atlanta. Stay close,
