IN PHOTOS|| CFCST PE ROTC Commandant, Cpt Dexter T Ruma PA, conducted firing exercises to the Cadet Officers at Headquarters 602nd Infantry (LIBERATOR) Brigade, Carmen, Cotabato. The ROTC Commandant recognized the importance of providing practical training to the cadets, and firing exercises were a significant part of their development.
To ensure the cadets gained hands-on experience and develop their marksmanship skills. The Commandant took the initiative to organize basic firing exercises. These exercises were conducted in a controlled and safe environment, with proper supervision and adherence to safety protocols.
The exercises aims to familiarize the four fundamentals of marksmanship are the basis of being able to use a firearm both accurately and consistently. With an understanding of the following principles, firearm users are able to safely and ethically hit their targets more often. First is the Steady position, maintaining a stable stance, position, and grip to improve accuracy and comfort when firing. Second is
Aiming, properly aligning the sights of a firearm and focusing the eye on the target to improve accuracy. Third is
Breath control, inhaling and exhaling in an involuntary cycle to increase stability Lastly is the
Trigger squeeze, applying the correct amount of pressure to ensure stability and accuracy.
In addition to the fundamentals of marksmanship, SSg Roderick C Labrador (Inf) PA, and SSg Jonathan E Llagas (Inf) PA emphasized the importance of responsible gun ownership and safety. The cadets were educated on firearm safety rules, proper handling, and maintenance. The Commandant also ensured that every cadet understood the gravity of handling fi****ms and the importance of following safety protocols at all times.
The initiative of the ROTC Commandant in conducting firing exercises proved to be highly beneficial for the cadets. It not only enhanced their marksmanship skills but also fostered a sense of discipline, teamwork, and responsibility. The cadets gained valuable experience that would serve them well in their future military careers.
