We now interrupt *everything* to bring you this message from Fashion Week Tampa Bay (in its entirety)!
Dear Fashion Lover,
We have some exciting news! As you know, the fashion world is constantly changing - new trends, colors, textures, fabrics, patterns, lengths, ups and downs. Over the years, we've made changes to the Tampa Bay Fashion Week event - growing from four days, stretching to nine days of programming, adding features, dropping them, divvying up events throughout the year and more!
And this year is no different - we are making changes, yet again. When we launched Tampa Bay Fashion Week (aka Fashion Week Tampa Bay) in 2008, our goal was to highlight emerging and established designers in our region and help to build the fashion community in our area. We're proud to be one of the players who has steadily evolved over the years, and appreciate you all coming along for the ride with us!
There have been a variety of changes in our emerging fashion community and across the state and country in the fashion industry. Boutiques have opened and closed, designers have launched and faded away, fashion shows have come and gone and come again. It's just the nature of change, life and business.
Our team has paid attention to the trends and changes over the years in Tampa Bay and decided to revisit the approach to our week. After running surveys, receiving feedback and suggestions, we stopped and asked ourselves, as fun as our Tampa Bay Fashion Week is, is it doing what we want it to do? Are we contributing to the scene the way we intended? Are designers making it and giving back? And how do we, as volunteers on this journey, help to build and contribute to the fashion scene that feels right for us all?
So with our eighth (8th) year, we are shaking things up even more!
We have decided to get down to the basics. In order for the fashion designer community to grow, the designers need to be able to sustain themselves and make a living at the craft that they share with us all.
So instead of having a large runway show as we've done since the inception of the event, we're going to be in a pop-up boutique at International Plaza and Bay Street, where designers will have trunk shows/fashion presentations from
Sept. 16-19.
You'll be able to shop your favorite, local Tampa Bay Fashion Week designer, place orders, and meet the designer behind the collection one-on-one.
While there is no main runway show this year, there is still the opportunity to view the collections in a unique, shopping experience.
Our boutique will be called, PURE Haus at Tampa Bay Fashion Week.
This is an experiment for us all, and we're all very excited!! We hope that you will embrace and support this year's change, come and see the designer collections, and shop in this TBFW first-time, one-of-a-kind, Pop-Up Retail Experience (PURE).
There are also several other events on our week's calendar, and we hope that you will come out and support those as well. Click here to view the schedule of events and designer trunk show times.
Oh, and how do you attend these trunk shows? They are FREE and open to the public, thanks to our fantastic sponsors and our special gift to you! But you must RSVP to be added to the guest list! Be sure to RSVP quickly as space is limited. And if you're not able to attend a trunk show, you can still stop by PURE Haus and see the designers' collections during store hours (10am-9pm). Also, be sure to check our calendar for other in-store events and activities.
We are so grateful to have you on this journey with us since 2008 - and we'll see you at Tampa Bay Fashion Week 2015!
Fashionably Yours,
Nancy, Jenna, Lisa, Zakia & Rechael
