Our Story
Bucketfull Of Brains is a record label and was a magazine.
The magazine was founded in 1979 by Nigel Cross. It published between 1979 and 2015 under a series of editorial teams; notably under Jon Storey from 1984 to 1995, Joe Presedo, Joss Hutton, Nick West and Terry Hermon from 1996 to 1999, and Nick and Terry following that.
It covered a wide-range of musics; an erstwhile sub-title listed "rock, garage, psych, folk-rock, pop, rock’n’roll”, and to that could be added country, soul and glam and probably more. Throughout its life it retained an affection for songs with guitars and thus bands like the Barracudas, the Flamin’ Groovies, the Dream Syndicate, the Long Ryders and the Green Pajamas held a special place in its affections.
The magazine was well known for its cover-mounted flexidiscs and 45”s and then latterly CD compilations. In 2010 Bucketfull Of Brains Records released its inaugural EP from Benjamin Folke Thomas. Since then it has released more titles from Ben, Trent Miller, John Murry, Jack Day and The Snakes.
The next release will be Time Between Us from Trent Miller (BOB801)
