I dedicate 'Song for Jazmin' as an acoustic fingerstyle tribute to Jazmin, a unique one-eyed stray cat, who for a couple of months, filled our home with warmth and tugged at our hearts with her quirky and trusting personality. I composed this piece to capture our emotional journey and deep affection for Jazmin. This song portrays her infectious spirit and resilience, making her departure all the more poignant.
The musical style of this piece aims for a lush, ambient sound that will surely engulf you. I am playing a special BSG GA 45CF Fan Fret Acoustic Guitar. It is a variable scale guitar, which is a baritone acoustic on the low end and a regular scale on high. This is why the frets aren't "straight" — but layed out in a fan like arrangement across the fretboard. The unique sound that you'll hear comes straight from my heavily tweaked pedalboard — a combination of slight compressor, triple delay, and Strymon Cloud Reverb, recorded directly into a Zoom H8n and XY mics to preserve the authentic, pure acoustic tone.
