Demolition begins on The Centron Corporation Building in Lawrence, Kansas.
What is happening in this clip is that the excavator crane tears out the roof of the Centron building storage warehouse at the back of the building. It then can collapse the exterior walls, which begins in the video. This video is zoomed in since the construction crew made us move back for safety.
It’s a sad day. The building was declared a national landmark, but already in a state of disrepair, it was allowed to decay until it was unrecoverable.
I gained access to the house where the Kansas (and Utah) film "Carnival of Souls" was shot. The house had just gone on the market in Lawrence and the owner at that time allowed me to shoot the hosting segments for a BSOH showing of the film from the inside (and outside) the house. This segment wasn't shown in the original episode, it a re-edit of the famous staircase sequence with the footage I shot intercut into the original film. I didn't do this in the original broadcast because I didn't want to mess with a classic scene.
