Today at 8 PM: Can AI do your job better than you? And are you afraid that one day an AI innovation will make your human contribution to your job obsolete?
Pieter van der Poel, a serial entrepreneur, and the founder and CEO of PRMSE – Screening for all, believes in the power of AI in detecting radiology anomalies.
Pieter says: “AI will not replace the job of the radiologist, the radiologist will be needed, AI makes screening and early diagnosis more possible for all”
In Ralu on Board Edition 14, Ralu Nistor-Lustermans dives into the AI potential in healthcare, limiting human error and allowing for 24/7 screening, while not eliminating the much-needed radiologist specialist intervention for the spotted cases. We will also hear from Pieter how the entrepreneurship journey is paved with ups and downs, and that at times failing in one business means learning to succeed in the next one.
Listen to Ralu on Board Edition 14 with Pieter van der Poel, how “AI saves lives, making early cancer screening possible for high-risk individuals, without eliminating radiologist’s role.”

More about tax: If you receive funds from overseas or send money to friends or family in another country, do you have to pay taxes in the Netherlands? We asked tax expert Steve Ten Bokum of Expat service for his input. Podcast host Jean-Paul Linnartz verifies if he understood correctly: the person sending the money is the one who has to pay taxes. But isn't it the recipient who reports it in their tax filing? More explanation is provided in this video podcast, episode 6 recorded in Eindhoven.

Do you have to pay a wealth tax? In the Netherlands, you pay taxes not only on your employment income, but also on any potential earnings from your assets. Unlike some countries, the Netherlands does not have a wealth tax per se. The actual interest and investment income you receive is not directly taxed. However, as part of the income tax system, a hypothetical or "fictitious" income is calculated based on the value of your portfolio, including bank accounts, shares, or even a second home. This imputed income is then taxed under the "box 3" system.
Our expert guest, Steve Ten Bokum from Expat service, is here to explain this concept in more detail. Can you simply tick the boxes on your tax return, or do you need to account for assets beyond what the tax authority has already compiled for you?
Tax season is upon us. Blue envelopes arrive with an invitation to file a tax return. When you log in to the website of the Dutch tax authority, belastingdienst.nl, you'll find that many details have already been pre-filled, such as your income and bank account information. It was organized by Colab and @Techmatters, thanks to Health~Holland. It was an inspiration session to brainstorm together about how we can develop innovations in healthcare for the future. There were many participants and guest speakers talk about their projects and ideas for the future. It was an interactive day as result more collaboration and sharing more succes stories.

Don't forget to shift your wall clocks backwards by one hour this weekend! The Netherlands goes back to wintertime. CEST ends. What does that mean for our biological clock? It is an invasion. The Japanese knotweed is considered to be one of the most invasive exotic plants. Once the plant has been established, it is very difficult to get rid of it. Due to its strong vigor, native plant species are displaced. Even the stinging nettle, the brandnetel, is overgrown. The strong rhizomes and stems of Japanese knotweed can cause damage to buildings, pipes and roads.
Authorities recommend to take action early on, and not to let the plant cover more than 1 square meter, as by then it quickly goes out of control. If it is in your garden, weed it out including the roote but you cannot and dump it as green waste, because it will spread. If you sell your house you have to report the knotweed in the same way as asbestos. Nonetheless it is making rapid inroads in Eindhoven public spaces and in this season it is spreading it seeds.
