The season is officially underway … but will be delayed.

It’s complicated. It’s challenging. It’s disappointing. I’m trying. It’s hard.

I will try and put a brief video together for Friday to try and explain the situation and when … we will be on air.

Due to the water damage that got into the studio, we reminded programs we would love to get more to adorn the studio (like seen hanging on the door in this post) as we are forced to reorganize the studio/office.

And we have gotten a few sent to us recently.

Thanks to Bryn Athyn Lions MBB and coach Sean Westerlund. Also Roanoke College Athletics MBB and Coach Clay Nunkey. And the newest arrival from Case Western Reserve Spartans MBB and Coach Todd McGuinness. Thank you gentlemen also for your kind words that went along with the uniforms.

We can’t wait to hang these on the ChalkTalkSPORTS Jersey Genius hangers and get them on the walls.

If you want to send a uniform or other paraphernalia, contact us to find out how.

If you want to help update the studios including getting more hangers, check out our Amazon shop: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/7RC5O3JFP9R2?ref_=wl_share

We will update everyone on our 22nd season debut, format changes, and other items … soon.

Sad news in . Enjoyed getting to talk w/Dan when opportunity presented itself. Even more enjoyment hearing those who respected what he did for ODAC, D3, & esp student-athletes talk about him. My thoughts are with his family, his ODAC family, & those who he impacted.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dan Wooldridge, the first commissioner of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). He passed away on Tuesday, August 20, at the age of 90.

If you enjoy watching the , you may not realize just how much Division III is impacting the games, players, staffs, and teams of the National Basketball Association.

The Podcast returns with an episode that not takes a dive into just how Division III alums are playing significant roles in the NBA . Beyond those who have made headlines like George Popovich, Brad Stevens, Devean George, Duncan Robinson, and others. Dave McHugh chats with Ben Kaplan, co-author of "Pipeline to the Pros: How Small-College Nobodies Rose to Rule the NBA," about not only the inspiration behind the book, but some of the incredible items he learned while putting the book together. Even more astonishing, the book could have been so much longer.

We also get a bit of a state of of sorts. McHugh talks to Mike McGrath, UChicago men's coach, about the season that was, the incredible depth now in the UAA, and what makes DIII tick. Their conversation took place in Fort Wayne during the Division III Men's Basketball Championship Weekend and is the first of several interviews that took place that weekend which will air over the summer.

Plus there is a number of items to cover in News and Notes along with the ever spinning Coaching Carousel. We recap some of the surprising coaching changes, how Pairwise (a.k.a. NCAA Power Index or NPI) is pushing forward though not approved just yet, school closings and updates, and a coach is reprimanded. It is a jam packed and in-depth episode of the Hoopsville Podcast.

The latest offseason is set to debut Friday. In it, we chat with UChicago Maroons men’s basketball coach Mike McGrath. Find out what he thinks NCAA Division III can take advantage of especially in to bring more attention to the student-athletes, programs, schools, and more.

🚨HOOPSVILLE PODCAST NOW AVAILABLE! 🚨

The 2023-24 Division III Basketball season was exiting from start to finish - even if some parts turned out as expected.

On the first of the off-season, Pat Coleman, Gordon Mann, and Ryan Scott take time to look back on the season with Dave McHugh. Each have a favorite moment, surprise, and something they will remember about the season that was. Plus, what will each be looking to ahead of the next season.

Plus there is plenty of news to try and get up to speed on. The Coaching Carousel is spinning and garnering some headlines, the American Southwest Conference continues to be dismembered, NPI/Pairwise is passing it's way through Division III, and schools closing continue to damper things.

Finally made it to Fort Wayne. That ~30 min stoppage (+ 15-20 min slow drive) on PA Turnpike unraveled rest of the trip … but glad to be here.

Found out a truck hit power lines that ended up on the turnpike according to Rich Pierce - WPXI: https://www.wpxi.com/news/local/pennsylvania-turnpike-shut-down-all-traffic-near-monroeville-due-downed-wires/QZED2RXARVDQZOTCDO3DWDOPIM/

The Pennsylvania Turnpike just after 5:15 p.m. said the power company secured the downed lines and all lanes of I-76 reopened.

On the road and headed to Fort Wayne. 460 some odd miles to another MBB Final Four. I’ve been to every championship weekend in men’s since 2001. Doesn’t get old.

UPDATE: It’s a bad sign when you find yourself parked on PA Turnpike at mile marker 58.9… and there is zero traffic coming in the other direction. Passed a trooper facing head on in shoulder to warn stoppage was ahead.

Thank goodness I had just stopped for a break.
