What happened: According to reports, Amazon has suspended more than 13,000 Pakistani seller accounts & reportedly declared Mian Chanuu & Sahiwal, as fraudulent red zones.
Details: Due to involvement in fraudulent operations, Amazon reportedly closed around 13,000 Pakistani accounts. Amazon has designated the cities of Mian Chanuu & Sahiwal in Punjab as red zones where most fraud operations are taking place. They have also prohibited IP addresses from Mian Chanu, therefore residents from these locations are now using Dubai or other clients' computers to access their accounts. According to ProPakistani, the sellers are engaging in frauds locally known as kabootar (pigeon trick), rickshaw trick, carding, & filing.
Kabootar trick: ProPakistani states, when a buyer orders merchandise from a phoney Amazon seller, sellers use the Kabootar technique, or false tracking.
However, such merchants notify the buyers that it will take 15 to 20 days to deliver their goods. Typically, Amazon credits the amount to sellers within 14 days. Since the customer believes the sellers, there are no complaints made, & after 14 days, Amazon pays the money to the seller. Actual buyers never receive their things.
Carding: Most users that register on a dark web website are engaged in carding. Such individuals purchase compromised cards from such websites for $100 to $200 with all pertinent information, such as the card number, expiration date, & Card Verification Value (CVV).
Filing: According to ProPakistani, another approach is filing, when vendors get the order on an Amazon account, buy it from another account but ship it to the original honest buyer. They set up such second accounts with Sam's Club, Walmart, & other merchants, buy the goods that Amazon customers had bought, & use the delivery addresses of the customers.
As one buyer receives delivery from one seller, Sam's Club workers helped reimburse all the items that had been shipped to Amazon consumers. The buyer's money and the second vendor's refund are given to the dishonest seller.
