Irish producer Balmr lands on Selections after nice outings on the likes of Sofa Movement Records, Kolour Detroit and Expanded Records which have all established him as a fresh deep house artist. His love for the Motor City shines through again here with the warm, dubby drums and swirling pads of ‘In Search Of’ bring to mind the Midwest’s best. Jon Dixon remixes with a little extra bite in the percussion and ‘Forager’ then layers up more dusty drums and wooden hits with diffuse synth curlicues. It’s a sound that works on both head and heel and lastly, Glenn Davis remixes with a touch of jazzy cosmic class to his synth work.

REVIEW:

The already well-cultured Selections label keeps it classy with this 13th outing. Manooz is at the buttons and taps into a timeless deep house sound from the off. ‘Welcome Haruka’ pairs widescreen chords with warming, glowing bell harmonies and dreamy vocals. ‘JV2080 Infinity’ (My Pitch mix) brings more swift tempos and smeared synth work that channels early Detroit. There is a playful skip and some sultry sax lines to ‘Essential Sax’ which recalls great artists like Jovonn and ‘Take One (JX08)’ rounds out this most effective and emotive house EP with some soulful Glenn Underground style grooves.

The 14th (12th in catalog number) release on Selections Label is OUT TODAY!!!!!

This is a very special ep for me personally. Some of the very first people who started supporting Selections early on were from Ireland and the UK. This ep is from “Balmr” (Greg O Connell). Greg has not only joined the Selections roster as an artist, but he has also become a friend in the process. 🥰

Greg has given us 2 outstanding tracks in this, the “In Search Of” EP.

I am also very thrilled to have not one, but 2 artists who have given the ep 2 very different remixes!!! Up first on the A side, Detroit heavy hitter, and my good friend Jon Dixon (4EVR 4WRD). Following up on the B Side, we have Irish deep house sensation and one of the best in the game today, Glenn Davis!!!!

JUNO Review:
