April 2015: After months of planning the launch of our magazine, we have finally managed to publish our first issue, which featured our first interview ever with the Balkan superstar, Tijana Dapčević.
June 2015: With the launch of our second issue, we have welcomed our first guest editor
October 2015: In our third issue we welcomed two new guest editors.
January 2016: SPECTRUMM changed its logo and updated its website.
February 2016: The fifth issue in the “new” SPECTRUMM format was released and Conchita Wurst decided to help us make our “rebirth” amazing by giving us an interview.
July 2016: For the first time ever, our seventh issue featured two exclusive interviews with Alexandra Stan and Margaret. That’s the time when we also decided that it’s time for another upgrade and here we are: SPECTRUMM v3.0 was released.
January 2019: After a hiatus of almost 2 years, SPECTRUMM is creating content unter a different editorial board. The legacy goes on!
Our story: Who we are
SPECTRUMM was published for the first time in April 2015 and was created by a group of six friends, all high school students passionate about journalism and with a big dream. Now, our permanent editorial board consists of eight members, all eager to step up the game. But first, let me tell you the story of our name. The idea of releasing a magazine first popped into my mind back at the beginning of 2015. I then gathered my best friends and proposed the idea, but we had one big problem: we didn’t have a name for our soon-to-be-released publication. In the following weeks I brainstormed and my first naming suggestion was “éphémère” (a bit too complicated for our purpose and after all, we didn’t want our magazine to be ephemeral). And we were out of ideas again, until one night. While browsing my iTunes playlist, a specific song caught my attention, and that was Spectrum by Florence + The Machine. And that’s how we got our name, so we thank you a lot Florence Welch. Now, what does the second “M” stand for? That’s quite easy: “magazine”.
Since the beginning, we never wanted our magazine to cover just one topic; we wanted to cover more aspects of our daily lives, from Fashion to Travel, from Body to Entertainment, from Life to Culture. But most importantly, we wanted to tell these stories from our personal point of view, from a different perspective, through a different kaleidoscope, ultimately through our spectrum.
To finish, our success wouldn’t have been possible without the help of two special persons: Anca Suciu and Cristina Varga. They believed in us from day one and helped us on our eventful journey. And what about the way forward. Well, I can’t predict the future, but I think we’ll do awesome.
