We briefly mentioned this game in a recent episode, comparing it to the early portions of Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. I feel like Timesplitters 2 did first-person shooting much better; I had a lot of fun with this game (even if it wasn’t the next coming of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark).

Thinking about FromSoftware now that Shadow of the Erdtree is out and I can’t play it until August. 😭

Otogi: Myth of Demons is a 2002/2003 FromSoftware game that I’ve wanted to try for years. It’s a rare Xbox-exclusive game, so it might take a while to get my hands on it.

Who loves NINJAS?! Well, probably all of us in the 80s and 90s! 😂

In my early PC gaming days, I got into real-time strategies like StarCraft, Command and Conquer, and Age Of Empires. I didn’t really know what made one of these games good (and I still largely don’t) because I’m not very good at them and I can’t pick out the nuances. But one that I liked for its theme and charm even though I knew it wasn’t actually a great game was this one, Mob Rule. Ocarina of Time. What a classic!

Here’s another contender for best console startup sequence. The GameCube presents an excellent and beloved welcome mat to its purple house of gaming. I loved this console. I wish it had better third-party suppport, because it was the last time Nintendo was on the leading edge of console performance. I think the incredibly comfortable controller with a silly button layout held it back. If they added another shoulder Z button on the left size and rearranged the face buttons into a standard diamond array, it would have been more conducive to playing a wider variety of games.

Unforgettable intro to an AMAZING game. There was nothing like it at the time. Nothing came close to what Wave Race 64 was doing.

Here’s another startup screen I really dig. The Xbox 360. Where does this one rank for you? Anywhere near the PS1, PS2, or GameCube?
