How to make plants talk to us? 🪴Catch their frequencies...

In 2015, Martin Roth (†), demonstrated the electromagnetic flow by displaying cannabis plants connected to a biofeedback device, made audible via MIDI.

Transdisciplinary group exhibition by Electropia.

by Martin Roth (1977 - 2019)

In the 1970s a team of researchers with a background in electronics embarked on a series of tests designed to investigate how plants perceive and act. Informed by more than forty years of explorations into plant perception, they eventually developed a device that enables plants and trees to play music. This device functions as a biofeedback system, which controls the MIDI synthesizer by measuring the electrical resistance of the vegetable tissues of a plant or tree and then converting the variations of this physical parameter into control signals

H**p is a commonly used term for high-growing varieties of the Cannabis plant and its products, which include fiber, oil, and seed. Other variants of the herb Cannabis are widely used as a drug, commonly known as ma*****na. While ma*****na has inspired artists, musicians, writers for centuries to create I want to allow the cannabis plant to express itself creatively with sounds.

ps we used this foto without actual h**p plants, due to legal regulations

Following on from yesterday's post, one of my readers very kindly shared a photo in the comments of the new cover artwork for Tresor Berlin's recent Drexciya reissues. If any of you are visiting there soon it can be found outside Tresor's club.

You can also just about make out a James Stinson quote underneath, "An infinite journey to inner space within". It comes from the Liz Copeland interview on Detroit Public Radio in 2002 (linked in comments). The sentence was in response to being asked to describe the theme of Drexciya; in full he said, “An infinite journey to inner space, within, and find out the beauty that’s inside and bring it out."

Rest in power, dear MAHIR JAHMAL! It is very sad news that your precious and artistic soul has left. So many heartwarming encounters, you gave it all...

It was a pleasure to work with you last November at our exhibition. Already fighting with your health condition for a while, you have shared the cause of your illness openly. Taking it a notch down, but still pursuing your dreams! Travel safe🖤

“In our soul there lies the power of longing with creative intensity.”
(Arnold Schönberg, Human Rights, 1947)

Among Viennese contemporaries who were conducting interdisciplinary research into states of the soul around the year 1900, Arnold Schönberg focused his artistic activities on the exploration of new forms of expression and also on resonances from the inside of the subject. The composer defined his creative work as an interplay of conscious logic, intuitive sense of form and unconscious sentiments, as a trial of strength between construction and the illumination of inner processes.
