There are those who love music and then there are those who make music their love. Damien Andrews falls squarely in the latter category. Hailing from the serene village of Cumuto, Andrews, known in the music arena as Tony Stark, was raised by his aunts and uncles and fell in love with music when he was just 13. Like a moth to a flame, he was drawn to the way Hip Hop artistes expressed themselves t
hrough song. He loved the innovative music videos that told a vivid story, some of which he could relate to. He simply loved the “vibes.”
It took little for Tony Stark to make up his mind that he would one day be a part of this movement and being a DJ in the world music industry. Tony Stark’s foray as a dj/Mic Man started at age 16, when he began djing with his classmate and friend, Ikena Skerritt, aka Starboy. The dynamic duo became the masterminds of a Sound System called Omega Redd, which eventually came to be known as Black Diamond International now evolved to Country Boyz Sound Movement . Now, 30, Tony Stark still gets that adrenaline rush whenever he hears a good ‘oldie’ or ‘hard’ music tracks. Ambitious, determined and focused, he is moving with an accelerated pace to carve his name in the history books of music. Always on the grind, this Belmont Boys Secondary alumnus continues to work assiduously to improve his craft and make all his dreams a reality. With his eyes steady on the task ahead, Tony Stark is putting in the work needed to be a success, as he is always mindful of the fact that hard work does indeed pay off. Knowing all to well what really goes on in the ‘hood,’ the Belmont resident uses his experiences to not only touch his listeners, but also highlight the social ills currently gripping the nation, in the hopes of making a positive change.
