Expect breezy harmonies float over the tightest of grooves in a classy combination. ‘Eight’O’Eight’ is a surefire hit while ‘Kashmere’ and ‘Yggdrasil’ will slot in with the best of today’s Berlin-London tech house sound. Closer ‘HK Side’ transcends subcategorisation, its piano and pads reaching for something bittersweet and timeless.

Jorge Caiado and Paul Cut return for another round after their 2020 collaboration on Caiado’s Time & Space LP. Those familiar with the two will know the order of the day: immaculately produced and deeply-felt house music that marries a studio master’s subtlety with a live musician’s flair.

Each of these tracks bursts with the essence of soulful house and its jazz forebears, traversing moods that are by turns wistful, playful and go-getting. Cut’s solos on the keys — which recently graced Larry Heard’s latest LP — provide the loose counterpoint to Caiado’s tight production.

I started Inner Balance's catalogue 7 years ago in 2015, after Chez Damier challenged me to develop my own sub-label inside the Balance family. Since then it's been a wonderful journey of keeping the Balance Recordings torch alive and supporting new and upcoming artists as artists that deserve more attention.

We're on our way to the 17th release, which will be announced soon, and so far all of the records have been released only in vinyl format although we've managed to make them entirely available for listening in the streaming platforms.

Today is the day that we join the digital world and bring our records in the digital format through our bandcamp page exclusively (it will not be available anywhere else for purchase).

We will start by making available our latest EP, from Gratts and Robert Owens "Brighter Future" and soon the remaining catalogue will become available as well. For this release in particular we will add a few more exclusive digital versions like the Instrumental mix, the New Dub Version instrumental plus Radio edits of the original and Jorge Caiado mixes (direct link in the comments).

We couldn't be more excited to share that we will bring some serious heat to Lisbon with a new Party series called - House Mouse.

This will be done in partnership with the ELA crew and for the first event we will bring the artists behind our latest release: our good friend and renowned Belgium DJ - Gratts - plus the one that represents for many of us the voice and soul of House music, the legendary Chicago DJ/Producer/Vocalist - Robert Owens.

After the 15hours release party that happened last December at Golden Gate in Berlin, now it's time to make it happen in Lisbon!

The "Brighter Future" official music video is out. Shot at Tempelhofer Feld last summer, it captures the laidback, escapist vibe this old Berlin airfield is known for. Big shoutout to Des Meegan for helping bring Emile The Wanderer's vision to life, to Robert Owens and my neighbours Uta Eismann and Flo for appearing in it, to Evie Pardoe and Slippery Crisps (can you catch his cameo?) for assisting and to Uncompressed Studio for the titles.

“If Gratts is Tristan Jong's musical alter ego, then Emile The Wanderer is the roaming fortune hunter: always on the move through town and country, avoiding office hours and responsibilities, in search of peace and carefree sunsets. In the video, we observe him leave his studio and head out into the Kreuzberg streets, braving grumpy Berliners before Chicago legend Robert Owens shows up on his path (which is exactly how it went down one day in 2015, when the duo met). Tempelhofer Feld is Emile's natural biotope - it’s where he escapes his daily worries and where we find Robert crooning of their "brighter future". And where Berliners of all strains enjoy themselves, out in the open, surrounded by greenery and rusty aeroplanes, dreaming of sunny days to come.”
