UGA’s Charlie Condon has become the 46th winner of the Golden Spikes Award, which honors the top amateur baseball player in the United States based on their athletic ability, sportsmanship, character, and overall contribution to the sport. He is UGA’s first winner of the award.

The Georgia-N.C. State baseball Super Regional will begin Saturday at Foley Field at noon on ESPNU, the NCAA announced Tuesday. The best-of-three series continues Sunday at noon on ESPNU while Monday’s game time and network is TBA.
Georgia will play host to Tennessee Tech on Sept. 7 and the 2 p.m. ET kickoff will be featured on ESPN+/SECN+. In their final regular season game, the Bulldogs will welcome Georgia Tech to town on Nov. 29 and ABC will televise the matchup at 7:30 p.m. This marks the first time Georgia has played the Yellow Jackets on a Friday since 1994. Also of note, Georgia’s Oct. 5 matchup with Auburn in Athens will be Homecoming. No kickoff time has been announced.
“Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday Celebration,” a two-hour special recorded live at the Hollywood Bowl, which originally aired back in December, is repeating at 9 p.m. Wednesday on CBS. Willie also has a chapter in my upcoming book, with highlights from the two times I interviewed him — once, backstage at the Fox Theatre, and another time amid a purple haze on his tour bus in Chattanooga. Men’s tennis head coach Manuel Diaz, the SEC’s all-time leader in career wins who has guided Georgia to 29 conference championships, four NCAA national titles and a pair of ITA indoor national championships in 36 years, announced Thursday that he will retire at the conclusion of the current 2023-24 season.
