Thinking about the last thanksgiving with my parents in 2015. My father had experienced several heart attacks and a broken hip. But he still presided over his last thanksgiving at 89. It was obvious to all that my mother was affected by Alzheimer’s by then. But she was beautiful at 83 and she had a strong Catholic faith and she prayed every day and every night even as the prayers turned to word salad. Seven months later, my dad collapsed after the last of many heart attacks in his own garage after their final “date night” for ice cream. I am pleased I spent their final two thanksgivings with them.

Sorta creepy to say “I secured my vote,” but these days, I suppose that’s ok. Since i am a middle-aged white male in Georgia, I am pretty sure my vote is secure. And in this state, my vote makes a difference. I also voted to allow liquor stores in unincorporated areas in my county. Voting can be badass.
