It’s hard to remember a year in pro bass fishing quite like this one. Unfortunately, what will make it memorable doesn’t have much to do with the fishing. There were tournaments with memorable catches. There were new winners and repeat winners. And there were legends who said their goodbyes as t...

Forward-facing sonar is changing how anglers target fish, but is the advanced fish-finding technology making fishing too easy? Or, is the new tech adding another level to the challenge? Tournament directors and pro anglers take sides on the latest controversy to hit the sport. https://bit.ly/3YIPXoa

29.91 pounds, how many inches you think that was?

Thought for sure I was gonna break 30 pounds. But fell just short. The fishing had been amazing to say the least.

Was only able to get this one big in the boat this past weekend fishing Mackintosh Lake with . Once again, it took over 100 inches to win there. That lake has em in it. Congrats to Will Lambert for smashing them! Unfortunately only one of the 3 that I hooked got in the boat, and the rest were small guys. But I still had a blast and look forward to hitting up some more of their events.

I feel so lucky to travel around as much as I do and fish some of the best fisheries around the country. We're over half way through the tournament season but still have a few tournaments left on some truly amazing fisheries. Can't wait to get back on the road 💪🎣

After practice I thought if I got lucky, I could put up low to mid 90s and a bad day would be mid to high 80s. The first day started off good, but quickly the bite I was on faded and went a few hours without any fish. I changed up, and got back on the same fish with a different technique with a flurry of upgrades. I finished with just over 90 inches and though I felt I was way back on the leaderboard, I was still in a good position.

Day two, neither of those bites were happening, so I changed up yet again and was able to catch fish, but no size to them. I struggled to break 75 inches for the day, and fell way down the leaderboard.

The takeaway is that if you ever get the chance to fish Cayuga in May, you better take it. It's an amazing fishery. It shows when you have to catch 90 inches a day for two days to cash a check. That doesn't happen often.

Thanks to AJ for running a great event, and congrats to Jordan Westerman for showing up and showing out.

Jumped up north for the Hobie BOS on Cayuga this weekend. Got a couple days to figure this place out but I feel like I already have a head start thanks to Humminbird Lakemaster VX and the One Boat Network app.

Found a good bite and a good area at Guntersville for the Bassmaster Kayak Series Stop #3. I know there were some giants around but would likely have to w**d through some 14-16 inchers to get to them.

Day 1 I was able to get one of those big bites, and keep myself in contention with 89.75 inches. I ended the day in 23rd place. Day two the weather was going to be different, so by my calculations, the bite would be better. And it was, in the morning anyways. The bite started out fast and furious. Though I never got a one of those big bites, I was able to place together a solid stringer of 88 inches. That was enough to leave me standing in 20th out of the 211 angler field, and good enough to cash a check. But it was not good enough to keep me on top of the AOY Leaderboard. There's still a couple events left and hopefully I can make a move back to the top by the end of the season.

Recap and bait selection will be posted on YouTube in the next few days.

Have to keep the throttle pegged if I want stay at the top of the AOY leaderboard over halfway through the season. It means nothing now but at the end of the year to be at the top of this leaderboard, I think most anglers will tell you it's the most coveted title you can receive in bass fishing.

We're at Guntersville Lake in Alabama for the 3rd stop of the Bassmaster Kayak Series. Follow along Saturday and Sunday as 211 anglers hit the water trying to trick some big fish into eating their baits.

What's your second favorite species to target? 🎯🎣

It's so hard for me to get away from bass fishing but at least a few times of the year I get out and try to catch some striped bass.
