From Butte County Supervisor William Connelly

1:00 pm. July 4 2024

Just off the phone with our Sheriff Honea he is trying with input from Cal-Fire to send people home safely. There will be many of you that will be getting that announcement within a couple of hours. Those that cannot go home, the reason will be based on a few facts, here is still fuel load available near your homes with smoking logs, stumps and trees and or PG&E will need a road closure to restore and inspect the power lines on your entry road.

Still the Sheriff is pushing for everyone a residence only re-entry if possible at a 5:00P.M. That meeting is later today.

If anyone has noticed the wind has change direction this adds another whole dimension to any fire safety decisions.

I have passed on all your concerns and the Sheriff was very supportive of you going home as soon as possible in a safe manner.
