Another year has passed and if we’ve learned one thing in 2023, it’s that everyone of us has a responsibility to combat the scourge of fake news.

And for the upcoming year, here at yFACTph, we continue to commit in empowering people to find trustworthy information, equip with skills to detect misinformation, encouraging big corporations, like Facebook, like Google, like everybody else, to take a lead in helping the public in discerning truth from lies and fabrication that are being spread massively to influence public opinion and national discourse.

Here’s to powering through and keeping hope alive in 2024. Here’s to continuing to fight against disinformation online, and promote responsible social media use in 2024 — salamat sa pagsama sa amin sa mahaba-habang laban na ito!

Bongbong Marcos Jr. moved the Bonifacio Day, which falls on November 30, to the Monday nearest the date, which is November 27.

Senator Raffy Tulfo calls out the homophobic remark of Makati Police chief Edward Cutiyog against actress and comedian Awra Briguela who was arrested and detained by the Makati City police after her alleged involvement in a brawl outside The Bolthole Bar in Poblacion on Thursday, June 29.

“Ay, hindi Sir! Mali ka diyan, Sir. Huwag ganun. Palibhasa'y gay, gustong makita agad ang katawan ng isang lalaki? Siguro po, mayroong pinagmulan ‘yung kaguluhan,” Tulfo said during the interview.

And of course, our stories that spark hope in the face of adversity, and the stories that hold power to account.

At 6 years old, yFACTph is now stronger than ever, thanks to your support. We will continue to tell the stories that matter because of the hope that the world will be better off, not thanks to us, but thanks to those stories. We will continue to build dreamers, change makers, and a community filled with hope fighting for truth, both online and offline. yFACTph, as an organization dedicated to promoting safe spaces everywhere, online and offline, is one with the LGBTQIA+ community in honoring the June 1969 Stonewall Uprising, which took place in New York City, an event that is recognized as a tipping point in the movement for LGBTQIA+ equality.

Pride Month is many things — a time for LGBTQIA+ people to celebrate how far the community has come, while it’s also a sobering reminder of how much lies ahead until everyone is treated equally.

yFACTph believes that Pride is a time not only to celebrate, but to organize. We need to celebrate diversity but we also need to raise our call for gender equality so that le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender and q***r people can live openly without discrimination and enjoy equal rights, personal autonomy, and freedom of expression and association. 🏳️‍🌈✊🏼

As we commemorate the heroism of our soldiers who fought and died for our freedom, let us also honor the Philippines' every day heroes that come in the form of farmers, health workers, security guards, service workers and all other front-liners. ✊🏼

As a new leaf unfolds to begin a new chapter, we bid goodbye to 2022 with high hopes that the new year be in our favor, as we continue our journey of discovering ourselves and our capabilities.

Last year has been full of challenges, from natural disasters in different parts of the country, to the recent elections that resurrected the family of a late dictator back into power and influence, we have endured so much and survived from them.

May 2023’s blessings give us a renewed sense of being, the strength to further brave through all challenges we may encounter, and courage to face head on greater uncertainties this lifetime may bring.

And just like that, we have come full circle. It's Christmas time once again.

This year is a rough year for everyone. We face the same storm in a different way. Some lost a lot, some gained much. GOOD NEWS! Voter registration will resume from July 4 to 23 as part of preparations for the holding of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in December.

According to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Filipinos aged "at least 15 years old on or before December 5, 2022 but not more than 30 years of age and residing in the barangay for at least 6 months immediately preceding the December 5, 2022" elections can register as SK voters.

Application forms may be downloaded and printed from the Comelec's website. They will also be distributed for free at the poll body's local offices.
