Uber issued a statement expressing its support for some of the new rules set to take effect in September, including an increased minimum wage and enhanced health and safety coverage. However, the company feels that the mandated compensation amount was "unreasonable."

Will this cause a surge in delivery + ride prices? ๐Ÿ’ฒ๐Ÿš—

British Columbia has become the first province in Canada to introduce a minimum wage and other protections for gig-based workers.

Starting September 3, workers for apps like Uber, DoorDash, Skip the Dishes, and Lyft, must be paid $20.88/h for the duration of an assignment (from the moment they accept until its completion).

The pay standards do not apply to the time spent waiting between assignments, and tips from customers do not count towards the workers' earnings. The platforms will be required to cover any shortfall in earnings to ensure workers receive the full minimum wage. ๐Ÿ’ธ

Time to plan out a trip to the Malahat SkyWalk this summer! ๐ŸšŒ

The SkyWalk is one of Vancouver Islandโ€™s most popular outdoor summer attractions with its elevated TreeWalk and 10-storey Spiral Tower.

The new free shuttle from downtown Victoria is now operating on weekends until June 30, and seven days a week from July 1 to Sept 9. Departure terminals are located in downtown Victoria at the following locations:

- Capital City Station
- Blackball Terminal
- Clipper Terminal

Malahat SkyWalk
