My journey started when I joined a small business in the pet care industry as a manager. Around the same time, social media exploded onto the scene, and I was hooked! While I could see the value for small businesses, I didn’t have the slightest idea how to go about it. So I dived in. I started attending seminars and training sessions to absorb all I could. I wanted to help small businesses have a relevant voice in the social media conversation. In 2013, I joined The Women’s Networking Alliance, an organization dedicated to relationship-based networking. In 2016 I took on an organization-wide leadership role and two years later I became a co-owner. I have helped to grow the business from 6 chapters to 13 (and counting) in the South Bay, Bay Area, and Greater Phoenix area. I love to support the community and to that end I volunteer at SCORE every month, teaching classes to small business owners. An animal lover (especially dogs, Great Dane is my favorite breed), I have fostered many dogs and cats over the years.

When I’m not playing on the internet or working with small business owners, you can find me reading suspense thrillers or sci-fi novels on my Kindle, catching the latest comic book movie with copious amounts of popcorn, and pretending to know more about wine than whether it’s white or red. Last night, I attended a fabulous mixer hosted by the Rainbow Chamber of Commerce Silicon Valley! I think this was my first mixer since the pandemic where I wasn’t hosting or working a booth—just pure mingling with no responsibilities. 🎉 It was such a treat! And, of course, with three fellow Women's Networking Alliance members there, we had to hit up the photo booth. 📸

When was the last time you sent a card to someone just because? I’ll admit—I used to be awful at this. But at the end of 2020, I started using a new service, and WOW, what a game-changer!

I'm having a birthday adventure! Last year, two of my dear friends, who used to live in the bay area but moved back to the UK about 5 years ago, suggested I join them for a trip to Morocco in January. I'm getting to the point in my life where I'm realizing that it's always a good idea to say yes when friends invite you to travel with them!

So far, we've been to Casablanca and we're on our last night in Rabat. Today is my birthday, so we just had a lovely dinner at a local restaurant and they get an A+ from me. Not only was the food and service excellent, but at the end of the meal, our server brought out a little sign with a QR code to leave a review on Google! Brilliant! And that tactic absolutely works, because I found the restaurant through a Google search and the reviews reeled me in! All restaurants should do this!

We're heading out to Fes tomorrow and then making our way to Marrakesh later in the week. It's been a LONG time since I took two weeks off and I can already tell it's doing me a world of good. 😁

In the last several months (at least!) I have been increasingly frustrated with my scrolling experience on Facebook and Instagram. There is just so much garbage content from pages that I don't follow and don't care about. And the people and pages I DO care about are nowhere to be found. Sound familiar? Ads seem to be everywhere now, and there's a surge of older posts, too. What gives?! In an effort to rival TikTok, Meta is heavily promoting its "AI recommendation engine." This algorithm tracks your activity to predict your interests and suggest content across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. It's similar to the approach that fuels TikTok's success: the surprise factor keeps us engaged with a constant stream of new discoveries. But there's a big downside! When the algorithm gets overzealous, it can flood your feeds with irrelevant content, making them frustrating to use. The good news? You can (to an extent) influence Meta's algorithms. The fabulous Mari Smith just shared some fantastic suggestions to help improve your scrolling experience, so take heed of her sage advice: 💥💥🚂 8 STEPS TO TRAIN YOUR FACEBOOK FEED 🚂 💥💥 1️⃣ Adjust the settings per post by clicking/tapping the 3 dots on any organic post in your feed. You can choose to hide, show more, show less, snooze, unfollow. You can also do the same for ads. And you also can get to 'Manage your Feed' under the 3 dots on any post. Yes, this practice can be super time consuming. But it can be worth a try! 2️⃣ Take advantage of answering the poll any time Facebook asks if you want to see MORE or LESS of something (a post or ad). 3️⃣ Make good use of your FAVORITES lists. This is where you can add up to 30 different friends, people you follow, or business pages as a Favorite. You're supposed to be able to see more of these sources in your main feed. But, see #4 below! 4️⃣ Start interacting with more of your Favorite people and Friends in the DMs. This informs the algos that
