Hi, Left Hooks Fans. You'll notice that we changed our name! Left Hooks has been defunct for a while, but I've started a new online venture, Prose Poems, dedicated to brief prose poems, short-shorts, and flash fiction. Left Hooks flamed out because I over committed. This one has a better publishing model, for me, and it should be more sustainable. I'm printing four poets each issue, and releasing one issue a month. I'm only releasing issues in the winter months here in MN, as I'm pretty busy from spring-summer (looking for bugs or hiking).
I'm paying each poet ($10 for each poet), and for those who decline, I'll put it in a slush fund to use on the magazine or pay our writers. The magazine is online, for now, but I'm thinking of doing some broadsides.
We just released our first issue, and it features Mark Vinz, Daniel Pinkerton, Dag Straumsvåg (in translation with Robert Hedin), and Jeffrey Hecker. You can see it here, and submit work here:
Prose Poems is a literary magazine dedicated to prose poems: paragraph-length poems that are decidedly the weird kids of the poetry world. But they are also, like many weird kids, delightful and moving and profound. And funny. Judge for yourself!
